James Duncan
Born:
James Duncan is a trumpet player and he has been active in a number of diverse musical genres, ranging from Free Jazz and the NY Downtown/Avant Garde to Indie Rock, House Music and Disco-Not-Disco for over 20 years. Born in Toronto in 1968, he began to play the trumpet and guitar in public school then studied trumpet classically at the University of Toronto. After his studies, he began co- leading bands and ensembles on the Toronto indie rock and free jazz scene of the early 90s, while continuing his improvisational studies with ex-Cecil Taylor trumpeter, the late, great Raphe Malik. He has appeared as a trumpet player on a number of highly influential and respected underground club records, including Metro Area’s debut CD (BBC Radio 1 Dance CD of the Year 2002), Metro Area 5 (12”), Morgan Geist’s “Double Night Time” CD and his “Super” 12” from 2001, all on Environ Records

He performed and presented his work at leading venues and international festivals such as the Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Merkin Hall, West German Radio Station (WDR Cologne), Gasteig Munich, Sunset Paris, Jazzhouse Copenhagen, World festival of Sacred Music (Los Angeles) and the Opera Festival in Munich. His work bridges cultures creating contemporary cross-cultural dialogs across multiple disciplines incorporating cutting edge technology. His recent compositions don’t fit in any singular category as they derive from folklore music, rock, jazz, contemporary music, classical as well as baroque music

Al Chez

Al was born in Jersey city, New Jersey in 1961. His father a country and western singer and his mother always had a love for music. When Alan was three his parents took him and his two older brothers Michael and Peter to a drum and bugle corps contest in Jersey city. Alan loved it. When the family moved to Edison N.J. his father help start up a local drum corps called THE SAINTS. Alan being to young at the time had to wait until he was 9 yrs old to join. Hearing his two brothers practice all the time Alan got horn playing in his blood. Alan stayed in the corps , eventually being one of the corps soloists until 1977 when the corps disbanded. Looking for another venue to play the horn Alan stayed with drum corps

Jerry Sabatini
Education Jerry Sabatini earned a Masters Degree in Contemporary Improvisation as a trumpet performance major from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston in 2009. He studied jazz, world and experimental improvisational music, personal style, and composition with Ran Blake, Anthony Coleman, Peter Row, Frank Carlberg, Allan Chase, Dominique Eade, David Harris and Charles Schlueter. In 2009 he was the featured soloist for the premiere of Anthony Coleman’s, Jeder MiBbrauch wird bestraft for trumpet, jazz piano trio and three Mbiras at New England Conservatory’s Brown Hall. He graduated with honors and was nominated for the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.
