Winner of the 2012 Révélation Jazz Radio-Canada prize, Jacques Kuba Seguin is known for his lyrical as well as his strong modern approach to trumpet playing, Jacques was born and raised in Montreal and fits well its multi-ethnicity. Always reaching for his polish roots Jacques thrives for new ways of approaching the traditional jazz idiom. Inspired by his various collaborations with companies like Cirque du soleil and various pop and classical artists Jacques breaks out from jazz tradition to create the urge for improvisation inside his ensembles. In symbiosis with the expressive bass player Frédéric Alarie, Jacques finds new ways to use the sound of the trumpet as rarely heard before by presenting a program that swings between modernity and tradition. Back in town after touring for two years with the Cirque du Soleil in 150 cities around the world and organizing various European and asian tours with his ODD LOT & Litania projekt ensembles, Jacques Kuba Séguin has established himself as one of Montreal’s most prolific composer, arranger and trumpeter

Allison Philips

Born:

Allison Philips is a Brooklyn-based trumpet player, composer, and educator. Philips is a trumpet player’s trumpet player. From the traditional trio setting to genre-bending explorations via electronics, Allison is always searching for new ground. 

Jazz Scene has called The Allison Philips Trio “an invigorating list​en that probes, as Ornette Coleman did, the line between song and sonic exploration.” The group released their first EP in 2017 and  released their first album “Placement and Longing” in 2021. Philips also co-leads the “DeiCont | Philips Collective”  a group which Hot House Magazine has called “one of the most exciting emerging groups in NY”

Atualmente leciona na Escola de Música do Estado de São Paulo - Tom Jobim (EMESP), Faculdade Souza Lima/Berklee. At the age of ten he started classical piano lessons and harmony studies under Mrs Elmira L. Cole (also taught Booker T. of the MG’s). Laura Jurd

Laura Jurd is a trumpet player, composer and improviser from the UK. A recipient of multiple awards and a BBC New Generation Artist from 2015-2017, Laura has developed a formidable reputation as one of the most distinctive and creative composer-performers to emerge from the UK in recent years.

Performing regularly throughout the UK and Europe, she leads the 2017 Mercury-nominated band Dinosaur who have performed at North Sea, Montreal and Molde International Jazz festivals to name a few. A highly active composer, Laura's is equally at home writing for contemporary chamber groups and orchestras as she is writing for jazz ensembles and improvising musicians
