Greg Hammontree

Greg Hammontree is a dynamic NYC multi-instrumentalist and composer, whose extensive credits range from The Blue Note NYC, Radio City Music Hall, Symphony Space, and The Jazz Standard to Bing Concert Hall (Stanford), The Kaufman Center (Kansas City), and Concert House Berlin (Germany). His appearances include Netflix, CBS, HBO, RAI, PBS, and ABC, and he's enjoyed opening for such popular names as Josh Groban, Ginuwine, and Christian McBride.

 

Hammontree currently tours internationally with The Queen’s Cartoonists. They regularly headline at performing arts centers and jazz festivals, and have opened for the New York Philharmonic. As an arranger and composer, Hammontree has worked for various artists such as Jason Trachtenburg (Late Night with Conan O'Brien & MTV) in addition to his own new music.

Accolades for an English musician don't come more exotic than a description of Chris Barber as the "Bix Beiderbecke of British- style jazz"— this, from the pen of musicologist David Boulton back in 1958. Not that this kind of plaudit about Barber is confined to the past, nor to the jazz world. Blues-Rock Explosion published in 2001 states that, "Chris Barber, Alexis Korner, Lonnie Donegan and Cyril Davies were the real founding fathers of what became the British 1960s blues-rock explosion." Both of these quotes expose an obscured truth about Barber and his Jazz and Blues Band: namely, that without the man who celebrates nearly seven decades as a pro band leader, not only would British trad jazz have taken many more years to evolve – but also the British blues and rock scene would not have exploded in the way that it did

Hot Club of Baltimore

Hot Club of Baltimore performs inspired arrangements of Django Reinhardt repertoire, French Musette and Jazz. Michael Joseph Harris (Ultrafaux) is guitarist and artistic director of the group which consists of a collective of top jazz musicians. The ensemble boasts a variety of configurations which include the instrumental trio of 2 guitars and bass, the classic quintet with violin, the late 40's "Django in Rome" sessions adding piano, drums, and horns, and the big band sound of the early 50's when Reinhardt performed with Duke Ellington. The group often features captivating vocalist Alexis Tantau on gypsy jazz renditions of Occitan folk songs, Edith Piaf, Eartha Kitt, Maxine Sullivan, Charles Trenet, Jacques Dutronc, Ella Fitzgerald, and Henri Salvador.

I am the leader and reeds player in Dr. Dubious and the Agnostics, a Dixieland Jazz band playing in the Metro New York area since 1998. We are a hot jazz, 7 or 8 piece band and have performed at First Nights, street fairs, weddings, private and corporate functions, and just about anywhere that people enjoy toe-tapping, good music. We feature female vocals by our pianist; male vocals by me, the eponymous Dr. Dubious; and bass saxophone to anchor the rhythm section.
