Jakob Norgren

Born: June 7, 1967

Jakob Norgren is a Swedish saxophonist, composer, arranger and big band leader. Main instruments are baritone sax, tenor sax, clarinet, bass clarinet and contra alto clarinet. He started his orchestra, initially named Jakob Norgren Big Band Splash, in 2004 and first released two albums that mixed contemporary jazz with soul/R&B. From 2010 Jakob let the band develop into a pure soul-jazz/R&B orchestra under the shortened name Big Band Splash, while introducing Jakob Norgren Jazz Orchestra (with almost the same members) where he could refine his contemporary jazz writing. Jakob Norgren is the arranger and producer of all his albums

Martina Almgren

Born: March 20, 1962

Drummer and composer Martina Almgren is described as a colourful addition to the contemporary Swedish jazz scene. Her passion for playful improvisation, enticing rhythms and expressive melodies reflects her drumming as well as her compositions. She has through the years been involved in several international collaborations -with the the British pianists Zoe Rahman and Nikki Iles, the Scottish alto player Laura Macdonald (album Open Book 2008), pianist Steve Hamilton to mention a few- and has composed commission works for the Swedish Jazz Radio and for contemporary ensembles. For many she is previously known as a colourful leader of Martina Almgren Quartet and the tentett Oh Yeah Orchestra

SUSANNA LINDEBORG'S MWENDO DAWA is always an adventure listening to. They were a bit of pioneers when the group was formed in the 70th when it came to combining expression of Jazz and traditional instruments together with the possibilities given by new instruments of the time. And they still are. Apart from most others fascinated by the same possibilities at the time. Musically MWENDO DAWA is now working with improvisation in serial technique with electro acoustical backgrounds but with a strong rythmical approach. Susanna Lindeborg

Born: April 18, 1952

Susanna Lindeborg, piano,keyboard, composer. After receiving a classical education she came during the 70th into contact with improvised jazz music, which became an important source of inspiration.

What you first think of together with Susanna Lindeborg is her virtuouso play on the piano mixed with electronic instruments, which has been known most of all through the group {{m: Mwendo Dawa = 19835}}, which she is the leader of together with saxophone player {{m: Ove Johansson = 17430}}. {{m: Mwendo Dawa = 19835}} has been succesfully touring in 25 countries in Europe, North and South America, China performing at festivals like Montreux, Northsea and Montreal. The last few years she has been regularly visiting USA and Canada with {{m: Mwendo Dawa = 19835}}. Susanna also writes a lot of the repertoire for the group.

Gustav Lundgren

Born: September 18, 1980

Gustav Lundgren is one of Sweden's most prominent jazz guitarists right now. He was born in Stockholm 1980, started to play guitar at age 12. He studied music in Stockholm, Bollnäs and Svalöv between 1996-2000. Gustav started to play at clubs around Stockholm at age 16 and made his first tour to Spain with his own trio at age 19. Between 2000-2010 Gustav toured Japan, USA, England, Brazil, France, Syria, Turkey, Scotland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway & Finland with different jazz groups. He has recorded over 70 CDs as a side man and over 20 solo albums. Gustav Lundgren has been working with names like: Chris Cheek, Jimmy Rosenberg, Jorge Rossy, Doug Weiss, Bill McHenry, Lelo Nika, Marian Petrescu, Rasmus Faber, Antoine Boyer & Gustavo Bergalli.
