Tim Chernikoff

Born:

Tim Chernikoff is a Jazz pianist originally from Palo Alto, California. His style integrates the jazz tradition with a fresh approach drawing from the styles of inspirations such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett and current artists such as Robert Glasper, Aaron Parks and Taylor Eigsti. He started learning exclusively from a classical approach at age 6, until high school when he started playing in the jazz band. Around that time, he was inspired by his older brother to learn how to play music from an improvisational, collaborative approach. Also being inspired by local musicians such as Eigsti and the many artists he encountered while attending the Stanford Jazz Workshop, he studied jazz throughout High School, learning from a local teacher named Bill Susmann

Article: The Big Question

Why don't more jazz venues present the music more in line with how people live today, rather than how they lived 60 years ago?

Read "Why don't more jazz venues present the music more in line with how people live today, rather than how they lived 60 years ago?" reviewed by Christopher Burnett

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
