Richard (Rick) Lawn is the former, now retired Dean of the College of Performing Arts at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia (uarts.edu) where he now following retirement professor emeritus in the School of Music. Previously he was the Founding Director of Jazz Studies, Chair of the Department of Music, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. Before joining the Texas faculty Rick was Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Northern Iowa. Rick holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Eastman School of Music where his principal teachers were Rayburn Wright, Bill Dobbins, Chuck Mangione and William Osseck

Karen Sharp

Karen Sharp The seeds of Karen’s career were sown early on whilst studying composition at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. She took up the saxophone as a sideline and soon found herself playing in the college jazz band and a busy soul band based in Liverpool. On relocating to London in 1999 Karen recorded her first quintet album “Till there was You” and it wasn’t long before she found herself working alongside musicians such as Scott Hamilton, John Dankworth, Danny Moss, Alan Barnes, Dick Sudhalter, Mark Nightingale and Cleo Laine. In 2004 Karen began a three-year stint in Humphrey Lyttelton’s band, which took her to venues and festivals across the UK and into Europe playing alongside Joe Temperley, Stacey Kent, Acker Bilk and the great blues singer Elkie Brooks

Joe Gray is an alumnus of California State University Northridge Music Department. Upon graduating with a B.A in Music he played in many horn bands of the time and did studio work. He was a member of the elite Hollywood Horns, The Vic Asher Band and the popular Los Angeles Band Smoothwater along with his own band Mom’s Apple Pie. He has since played with many of Los Angeles ’ Big Bands for the past 26 years. Joe is now besides a saxophone player in the band also the leader and manager of The Late Nite Big Band.

Melvin Llord

Melvin Quinones, also known as Melvin Llord, is the CEO & Founder of MyMusicTalk Corporation, one of the most revolutionary musicians community online. He started studying saxophone by age 11, with the idea of someday playing in the local church's band. He never made it to that group, but that didn't discourage him from his passion for music. By the age of 15, he was recording music with local bands and slowly gaining popularity as one of the best sax players in western Puerto Rico. At 17, his talent was discovered by Andrew Ruiz, one of the most popular band directors in Puerto Rico, who quickly extended him an invitation to play with international Latin star Wilkins

Jack Novotny

Novotny attended North Texas State University as a composition major. He performed for 10 years in the Eddie Brookshire Quintet out of the Dayton/Cincinnati/Columbus, OH region. The group recorded and performed with the late pianist Kenny Drew Jr. as well as other notable jazz artists such as JD Allen, Alan Vizzutti, Mike Wade, Dr. Mark Lomax II, and Edwin Bayard. Jack recorded and released an CD in 2011 called "The Boston Sessions" which included 11 original compositions. The album showcased the talents of bassists Jorge Roeder and David Zinno, drummers Steve Langone and Eric Doob, and percussionist Jerry Leake
