Alastair Penman

British saxophonist Alastair Penman is a dynamic and versatile performer and composer, presenting contemporary music in new and exciting ways. Having obtained masters’ degrees in both Information and Computer Engineering (University of Cambridge) and Saxophone Performance (Royal Northern College of Music), Alastair has a strong interest in the fusion of live saxophone performance with electronic effects, backings, and enhancements to create often previously undiscovered sound-worlds. Although classically trained, Alastair enjoys exploring many musical worlds; such influences can be heard in both his compositions and performances, which often transcend genre definition. As a soloist, Alastair has given performances at venues including Milton Court Concert Hall, Trinity and St Catharine’s College Chapels (Cambridge), and the Concert Hall and Carole Nash Recital Room at the Royal Northern College of Music

Tom Barford
Winner of the 2017 Kenny Wheeler Prize, Tom was raised in a musical family and grew up surrounded by music, from Frank Sinatra to Louis Armstrong. He started the saxophone at the age of 9 but it wasn’t until a few years later that Will Osborne’s inspiring lessons led Tom to a specific interest in Jazz. Tom joined the Junior Jazz Course at the Royal Academy of Music aged 16, before going on to gain a scholarship place on the Undergraduate Jazz Programme at the Academy in 2013 and earning a First Class Hons degree in 2017. During his time at the Academy, Tom has slowly become recognised as one of the most exciting young players emerging on the scene

Matthew Muñeses
Matthew Muñeses is a saxophonist and educator residing in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Although his introduction to music came through violin lessons at the age of six, music would not take a serious role in his life until he began playing the saxophone four years later.
Matthew received his B.M. in Saxophone Performance at Illinois State University in 2011 and his M.M. in Jazz Performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013. During this time, Matthew studied with Dana Hall, Chip McNeill, Ron Bridgewater, Tito Carrillo, and Chip Stephens.
In the subsequent years, Matthew has garnered recognition as an up and coming talent by winning or being named as a finalist in multiple educational and open competitions, including the Jazz Society of the Philippines competition and the Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship. In 2015, Matthew participated in an invitation-only workshop with Steve Coleman and the Five Elements at the University of Chicago. Through this workshop, he was afforded the opportunity to study with and perform alongside Steve Coleman and members of his band, including Jonathan Finlayson and Miles Okazaki.

Caleb Dillon-Murray
Born:
Caleb Dillon-Murray is a saxophonist and composer presiding in the San Francisco Bay Area. While in school, he primarily studied both jazz and classical saxophone, though he has played with all sorts of different ensembles, including blues bands, gospel, Latin, Reggae, hip-hop groups, and Arabic music. Caleb has a Bachelor's Degree from Hope College under direction of Brian Coyle and has a Master's Degree in Jazz Composition from the University of South Florida under direction of Charles Owen.
After working on cruise lines for a while after school, he came back to the Bay Area and released his first album, "Jammin' Through December" with a band he formed called Blue Horizon. He also joined a variety of bands, including the California-Reggae band, "Coast Tribe", where he recorded 2 albums, and the Blue Band "The Delta Wires", where he recorded 1 album.
