Thomas received his musical education at Berklee College of Music, and combines freelance jobs as a musician with work at an advertising agency. He has appeared on countless recordings and has performed with artists such as Sharon Dyall, LaGaylia Frasier, Svante Thuresson, Janne Åström, Jennifer Brown and others. He leads the soul band Soul Station, which among other things has made several acclaimed gigs at Stockholm jazz club Fasching and also plays in the band P- Floyd. Lewis started out as a classical clarinettist but at the age of 18 took up saxophone and began playing jazz. By the age of 19, while still a music student at the University of Ulster, he found himself to be a member of the Brian Irvine Ensemble as soprano saxophonist alongside the legendary English free jazz saxophonist Paul Dunmall. Working with Brian took Lewis all over Europe performing at many contemporary music and jazz festivals. This was a partnership that lasted 11 years and included performances for BBC Radio 3 with the Ulster Orchestra and also a performance with Keith Tippet. Throughout the years, Lewis has been the leader and composer for various outfits and projects

He is a graduate of the Jazz Performance Program at the University of Toronto. The Cook Book, Taylor’s latest release, is the culmination of his original compositions that he has arranged for a variety of ensemble configurations. The CD, produced by Rolling Stones saxophonist Tim Ries, features 20 of Toronto’s finest young musicians as well as multi-Juno award winner Mike Murley.
