I've spent my whole life playing other people's music and I always annoyed people because I never played it exactly as it was on the record. It's taken me 37 years to realise that I'm a Jazz musician and it is perfectly acceptable to do this! I love Jazz and it definitely ticks boxes for challenging me musically but I also love beautiful melodies and grooves that go on and on just because they sound 'great'! I also feel that music should be heartfelt and that its worth the risk of leaving yourself vulnerable. I was brought up to have an Englishman's stiff upper lip and it didn't do me any good

DK [Darnell Kenneth] Anderson was born on November 19, 1979, a mill town kid from the city of Monessen, Pennsylvania. He began his musical studies on tenor saxophone at the age of 11. At the age 16 he started playing the piano and became interested in composition. DK Anderson graduated from Duquesne University School of Music having studied with saxophonist James Houlik; composition and orchestration with Mike Tomaro and David Stock; counterpoint with Dr. Robert Shankovich; and jazz studies later with Sean Jones of the Lincoln Center Jazz Band. Japanese jazz tenor saxophonist, composer and arranger Masashi Usui has been in Montreal since 2014. He has a special ability to interpret traditional American jazz but with a contemporary freshness. He is on a pilgrimage to Montreal, and soaking up the rich jazz scene. He graduated Masters of Music in Jazz Performance at Schulich School of Music of McGill University in which he acquired a Schulich Scholarship and a Graduate Excellence Fellowship. He has accompanied prominent jazz artists in North America, including drummer Fukushi Tainaka, André White, Dave Laing, and Mark Taylor, saxophonist Al McLean, trumpeter Kevin Dean, guitarist Mike Rud, and Greg Clayton, pianist André White, Geoff Lapp, Joe Sealy, Paul Shrofel, and Richard Clements, bassist Alec Walkington, Alex Bellegarde, Elias Bailey, and Adrian Vedady. In Japan, saxophonist Akira Ohmori, guitarist Sunao Wada, pianist Hideaki Yoshioka.

Nigerian-born, London-raised, and Brooklyn-based Zem Audu is an award winning saxophonist, composer and producer with a fresh sound that blends contemporary jazz, and soulful grooves. In 2008 whilst still living in London he won 1st place in the Worshipful Company Of Musicians Jazz Competition. Filippo Bianchini

Filippo Bianchini was born in Orvieto, Italy, but he lives from 0 to 8 years in Rome. Thanks to the father's collection of LP and a family friend, Alberto Casasoli, began studying music at 7 years hold. At 10,he started playing the tenor saxophone. Shortly after, he began his first lessons of sax with Mauro Verrone, who introduced him to the great music of Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Massimo Urbani and many others.

At 18 years hold, he starts the class of Saxophone with Mario Raja at the Conservatory F.Morlacchi of Perugia, where he graduated in 2007, obtaining the highest marks (10/10). In September 2007 he moved to Netherlands in the city of The Hague to gets a specialization at the Royal Conservatory of Den Haag. Here, he has the opportunity to study with one of the greatest european musicians: the american saxophonist and clarinetist John Ruocco.
