Sioux Robbins

Born: March 28, 1969

Local Philadelphians might recognize Sioux as a model and commercial actor. But there has always been much more to her. Born in Michigan and raised in NY, NJ and PA, Sioux Robbins is a singer songwriter. She started playing piano by ear as a young child, the fourth of five children in her family. Technically it started with her older brother showing her a simple boogie-woogie on the piano at four years old. But for her it really began when she discovered the intro to My Girl ran straight across the black keys.

Andrea Goretti

Born: December 25, 1990

Andrea Goretti is a jazz pianist, improviser, and composer active in projects ranging from solo piano to orchestral ensembles, with a strong focus on original music and interdisciplinary practices (silent film, dance, photographic projections, and musical theatre). He has released two solo piano albums and one trio album, collaborating with Italian and international musicians.

Education

He graduated in Classical Piano from the Conservatory of Parma in 2013. With pianist Fabrizio Ottaviucci, he deepened his study of John Cage’s prepared piano and the music of major 20th-century composers, including Giacinto Scelsi and Morton Feldman.

Dario Boente

Born: December 21, 1973

The term "crossover artist" can mean many things. In the case of Grammy and Latin Grammy Winner Argentinian born pianist and composer Dario Boente, it means a musician who is equally at home performing romantic Argentine and jazz compositions on a grand piano, as he is programming world-beat electronica. Dario's musical personality energetically bridges the Jazz-club and the Dance-club and is a direct outgrowth of his own life. Having been brought up in Argentina and Spain, immersed in the culture of tango and Jazz, he pursued his formal studies at Berklee School of Music (Boston), the Guildhall School of Music (London) and the New School Jazz and Contemporary Music Program (New York) and his social life in the music scene of New York, Madrid, and London. In the early ’90s, Boente toured the Euro circuit playing “Big Joe Turner” as his keyboard player and musical director, with pop band Imagination, with Spanish flamenco singer "Jose El Frances", making dance tracks, and performing in the major music festivals

Mike Finkel is a composer/songwriter/educator and performer... Nitsan Kolko

Born: January 22, 1997

Nitsan Kolko is an Israeli Brooklyn-based pianist, composer, and arranger. His latest projects include: a debut album “Allusions'' with clarinetist Hillai Govreen, arranging Brazillian music for an ensemble of strings and woodwinds, arranging music for a big band, composing and conducting a concept piece for a gospel choir accompanied by a big band and spoken word, and leading a trio of original music. Sila Shaman

Born: October 19

”Intelligent” and “Inventive” and “Free-swinging” are some of the words that critics have used to describe pianist and composer Sila Cevikce Shaman's music. Born in Ankara, Turkey, she moved to USA in 1993 to study composition and jazz improvisation where her mentors included Jerry Bergonzi, Joanne Brackeen, Robert Helps and Chuck Owen. For the next decade she has written for, performed and recorded with many ensembles including Kim Bock Quartet, Spindle, Greenwich Blue, Dan McMillion Groovin’ High Big Band, Robin Hackett, SDS Trio, poet laureate Lawson Inada as well as her own quartet featuring Rich Perry and Ari Hoenig

Jess Baldwin

Born: October 5, 1980

Musician Jess Baldwin weaves together poetic lyrics, lush harmonies, playful rhythms, and her warm, clear singing voice into dreamy jazz and indie soul compositions and arrangements. In her songwriting, she explores themes of savoring the beautiful and surreal, as well as healing from religious and developmental trauma. Jess’ sets feel like a late night conversation in the corner booth of a speakeasy during that magical hour when most people have gone home and taken their small talk with them. She loves sharing time, space, and good bourbon with dreamers and weirdos. Jess appeared on American Public Television’s Songs at the Center in 2018, NPR's Mountain Stage in 2013, was a quarterfinalist in the 2015 and 2017 American Traditions Competition, and won Best Cover Song in the 2015 and 2017 Ohio Music Awards

Morris Nelms

Born: October 1, 1956

Morris Nelms, pianist/vocalist, grew up in Frederick, OK, discovered Jazz at Cameron University in Lawton, OK, and was instantly hooked. He completed a Bachelor's degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1978 and a Master's degree in Composition at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX in 2000. Currently, he teaches at Texas State University. He has taught and played Jazz for many years. In addition, he has taught and, in some cases, is teaching: Introduction to the Fine Arts, Aural Learning, Improvisation/Combo performance, Big Band Performance, Jazz History, Jazz Appreciation, Jazz Piano, Jazz Guitar, Jazz Voice and University Seminar. He hopes you will buy the CD he recorded in 1999 with Cullen Offer, The Best Thing For You Would Be The Cullen Offer Quartet, on Progressive Records (PCD 7114). He can also be heard to good advantage on Ken Slavin's latest CD I'll Take Romance. Noel, the latest CD by the band Small World, is his most recent studio recording. Hanna Inui

Hanna Inui is a Japanese pianist, composer, and improviser. Hanna holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA 2020/Jazz Piano) from School of Jazz at The New School. Hanna’s music molds influences from classical, Japanese pop music, and Black American music, and has two distinctive characters; one being the punk, and the other being the healer. Hanna is currently residing in Brooklyn, NY, exploring solo piano performance, composition, electronics, texts, sound art, and movement designs, searching ways music can exist in this society where every (recorded) music is available for (almost) anyone to hear.
