It might be that singer/songwriter Steve Dawson was born in California and raised in Idaho, but he has become a son of the city he calls home: jny: Chicago. Sara Gazarek: Thirsty Ghost

Read "Thirsty Ghost" reviewed by Angelo Leonardi

Nick Drake recorded three of the most sublime albums in the history of folk-rock (or any other genre) in his brief lifetime. He died in relative obscurity at the age of 26 in 1974. MUSICIAN Born:

Shamus Dark

I've spent the last few years recording albums, making videos and performing in and around London, the far east and New York City. Most of the songs come from the 1930's, 40's and 50's, written by the great composers of the day; Cole Porter, Rogers and Hart, Hoagy Carmichael, Matt Dennis, Harold Arlen et al. But there are also songs by Elvis Costello and Joy Division. With the help of some great collaborating musicians and producers, I'm doing my best to bring some of these great old American songbook standards into the 21st century with the aid of digital technology.

Jose James: No Beginning No End

Read "No Beginning No End" reviewed by Enrique Turpin

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
