Charu Suri

Born:
Formed in the spring of 2018, the trio consists of Charu Suri on the piano, J. Brunka on the double bass, and Jay O'Brien on the drums. The ensemble has received praise for its renditions of standards and original music. Its debut album, "Lollipops for Breakfast," with original music composed by Suri, debuts soon. Charu Suri has been playing the piano since the age of five, and won an international piano competition at the age of 15. She has a Piano Performance certificate from Princeton University, where she received her undergraduate degree, and a Master’s in Music from the Manhattan School of Music. Her piece for chamber orchestra, “The Shield of Achilles” was performed by the Princeton University Chamber Ensemble

Kevin Ellis-Lane
Born:
Kevin was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens, New York. Earlier in his career he played primarily throughout the tri-state area, playing most gigs locally at venues in the five boroughs of NYC. He has since gone on to play with such names as Isaac Hayes, Tito Puente, Peabo Bryson, Keith Richards, Miki Howard and Melba Moore, to name a few. Kevin began playing electric bass at age 10, and began upright bass at age 17. He studied music at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College, while continuing to play local gigs, and for the occasional tours. He started his own band "Alternate Route" back in 1988, and has been a working musician and band leader ever since. His music is primarily contemporary and progressive, modern jazz.

Alexis Morrast

Alexis Jessica Morrast youngest of six, singer/song writer; a 15 year old phenom, native of Newark, N.J presently residing in Plainfield, New Jersey. She began singing in church at the age of three, leading her first solo in the adult choir by seven. Since that time Alexis has performed on several stages; the U.S. OPEN in 2013, 2015 Central Jersey Jazz Festival in New Brunswick featuring trumpet player Sean Jones, NJPAC with Christian McBride, the world renown APOLLO THEATRE emerging as Two Time Amateur Night Winner and later returning as their Special Guest. February 2017 back on the APOLLO stage she was named the Winner of SHOWTIME at the APOLLO nationally televised FOXTV hosted by Steve Harvey; most recently Alexis resounding tone was heard on Millennium Stage at The KENNEDY CENTER! Chris DeVito is a jazz pianist, leader and educator born and based in the greater New York City metropolitan area. Chris earliest jazz influences were his grandfathers, one a jazz bassist and the other a stride pianist. Chris began playing piano since he was three years old. Besides his regular trio with Dave Kingsnorth and Greg Sundel, Chris has also performed with the Frank Grasso Quintet, Spirit of Life Ensemble, Curtis Lundy, Michael Logon, Chris Berger, Tom Pietrycha, Greg Grispart among many others.
