Arnan Raz
Born:
Influenced by the legacy of giants like Lester Young, Stan Getz and Warne Marsh, as well as the innovations of Mark Turner, Arnan Raz and his quintet create a refreshing fusion of the traditional and modern jazz. While clearly introducing/implementing elements of American and Israeli folk music, this band, in it's classic instrumentation of tenor sax, alto sax, piano, bass and drums, definitely has a 'New York' sound. With solos that successfully match the compositions in their extremely melodic and intuitive nature, the quintet delivers an energetic yet elegant performance, projecting both unity and harmony. Arnan Raz was born in Kibbutz Merchavia, a small village in the north of Israel to a musical family- his grandfather was a music teacher and a painter, his uncle a famous conductor and his mom and his brother both are professional guitar players

Steve Elson
Steve Elson is on the short list of New York City's sought after music heavyweights. He is a passionate performer, a versatile woodwind player and a completely original composer. Peter Watrous of the New York Times wrote: "Mr. Elson brought a real passion for melody to his pieces. Where a lesser composer might have used a style in quotes, Mr. Elson used the styles from the outside, knowing well their implications. And he used them from within as well, manipulating the melodies and the harmonies to elicit all sorts of emotionally sophisticated work". Elson knew by the time he was sixteen that he wanted to be on the road with his saxophone, making and playing music

Jazzmeia Horn
Award-winning vocalist Jazzmeia Horn announces her ever-expanding talents with the release of her first big-band effort, Dear Love, a recording that brims with the combination of her assured delivery and spoken world segments, deft arrangements and fiery musical ideas.
While the album functions as a platform for Horn to showcase both her perception of the world and her endlessly unfolding talents, it also granted the composer a setting to expound on personal experiences, shuttling them through a sui generis musical prism.
“‘Where We Are’ really speaks on my history — where my ancestors have been and where we are now,” Horn said about a track filigreed with strings from the new album, which is set for release Sept. 10 on the vocalist’s own Empress Legacy Records. “All of our actions now will determine our future, and all of our actions in the past have determined our present. We know that. Based on what we do now, that's how we create a better future for our children and for future generations. It’s important because not a lot of people think about that. We've got global warming and all these other problems because people want to do what they want to do without thinking about the repercussions.”
