Niklas Meek

Born: June 5, 2008

Niklas Meek is a young jazz trombonist from Sjøholt, a small town outside Ålesund on the west coast of Norway. He is part of a growing generation of young Norwegian jazz musicians developing their own voices through improvisation, ensemble playing and a deep curiosity for the music.

Meek has been active in the jazz environment around Ålesund and Molde, performing at venues and events including Julejazz in Ålesund and Moldejazz. As a member of the National Jazz Program at Molde Upper Secondary School, he has taken part in projects exploring a wide range of jazz, from contemporary and groove-oriented music to the music of Sun Ra Arkestra. In 2025, he performed with the Landslinja ensemble at Moldejazz in a program inspired by Sun Ra, working under the guidance of musicians and educators including Jenny Frøysa and Petter Dalane.
