Niklas Meek

Niklas Meek is a young jazz trombonist from Sjøholt, a small town outside Ålesund on the west coast of Norway. He is part of a growing generation of young Norwegian jazz musicians developing their own voices through improvisation, ensemble playing and a deep curiosity for the music.

Meek has been active in the jazz environment around Ålesund and Molde, performing at venues and events including Julejazz in Ålesund and Moldejazz. As a member of the National Jazz Program at Molde Upper Secondary School, he has taken part in projects exploring a wide range of jazz, from contemporary and groove-oriented music to the music of Sun Ra Arkestra. In 2025, he performed with the Landslinja ensemble at Moldejazz in a program inspired by Sun Ra, working under the guidance of musicians and educators including Jenny Frøysa and Petter Dalane.

Now entering his third year at the National Jazz Program at Molde Upper Secondary School, Meek continues to develop as an improviser and ensemble musician. His playing is rooted in a love for jazz while remaining open to new sounds, strong grooves and the freedom of improvisation. As he continues his musical journey, he is focused on finding his own voice on the trombone and becoming part of the next generation of Norwegian jazz musicians.
