Ye Huang, born in 1998 in Shenzhen China. Clarinetist, Saxophonist, and composer. Ye is an enthusiastic young man who plays music across classical, jazz, pop and many genres. He started playing clarinet at the age of 9, studied with his mentor Yi Cheng, principal clarinetist of Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. At age 12, He was admitted by Juilliard Pre-College, with clarinet professor Alan Kay and jazz with Ron Blake. The Beat Freaks - a jazz quartet founded in Szczecin by guitarist Michał Starkiewicz in 2014. The musicians have many individual awards and achievements to their credit; they have collaborated and continue to collaborate with the cream of jazz musicians and beyond.
They have two studio albums to their name, "Leon" (2016) (Top Ten 2016 according to PolishJazzBlogspot journalists) and "Stay Calm" (2019). They also recorded music for the film "Zamoyski - Sculptor with a Camera," which was released digitally.
In 2018, the band made it to the top ten of "Electric Jazz Bands" as well as in the category of "New Jazz Band Hope" according to JazzForum readers. The musicians have performed on the most important jazz stages in Poland and abroad.
"The Mechanics of Nature" is the third studio album by The Beat Freaks, on which the musicians invited a special guest - American trumpeter Ralph Alessi.

Ben Hedquist

Ben Hedquist is the clinical assistant professor of jazz bass at Arizona State University. He holds a doctorate in double bass performance from ASU where he studied under double bass virtuoso Catalin Rotaru. Hedquist is the education program coordinator at The Nash, Phoenix’s jazz performance and education center. As a double bassist, Hedquist is known for his versatility and feels at home playing classical or jazz music. As a classical musician, he has performed with the West Valley Symphony, Phoenix Opera, and as Principal Bassist for the Musica Nova Orchestra. Hedquist has also performed in chamber concerts with the ASU String Faculty as part of the Stradivarius Concert Series at the Musical Instrument Museum, with violinist Mark Fewer (McGill University) as part of the Lotus Land Project and performs solo recitals throughout the Phoenix Metropolitan area

Lynda Murray

Lynda met jazz photographer Jak Kilby in 1977 they were married in 1980 and had two children, Naomi Kilby (opera singer and artistic director of Opera Alegria) and Zak Kilby (photographic illustrator). She became immersed in the London jazz scene in the late 70’s and 80’s and switched from studying classical piano at music college to saxophone and started to play jazz. Lynda has been on that journey ever since. Lynda is mainly self-taught but along the way has had some coaching on the saxophone and in jazz harmony with an array of great exponents of the genre. She joined John Steven’s Community Music Search and Reflect project in 1984 first as a trainee workshop leader then was kept on as a workshop leader until she left in 1987 due to moving to the South Coast. Since living in East Sussex Lynda has had the opportunity to work with some great musicians and has developed her music writing skills. She has a collection of material that has not been released on CD yet and there are two live recordings on YouTube of three of her compositions Sound Heart, Serenade and Heron.
