Musician

Marvin Diz

Born:

Marvin's inclination to music developed very early in life. Born in Centro Habana, La Habana Cuba, on July 24th of 1976, he grew in a family environment enriched in the rumba tradition. Marvin is influenced by his uncles Armando Aballi (founder of Danza Nacional de Cuba), Mojito, Enrique and Wilfredo. In his ingenuitive and innovative curiosity, Marvin played on a bucket, a dresser's drawer, the side of a closet or a wooden table to replace the sounds of 'tumbadoras', 'cajones' and 'cucharas', at his grandmother's or aunt's birthday celebrations, year after year. Besides the influence of his father, a prominent and respected musician in the musical world for his work in the Cuban's National Folkloric Group (Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba), Miguel Valdes Alli; Marvin's brother, became a strong influence between the ages of 8 and 9. Around 15 years of age, he abandoned the military school Los Camilitos, and he was interested in the world of music again
