MUSICIAN Born:

Jo Alisch

Johannes 'Jo' Alisch was born into a family of actors and musicians in 1984 and started learning the Cello at the young age of six. Surrounded by everything music, theatre and performance life since early childhood years he has ever since been cultivating his talents as a cellist, double bassist and performer and weaves them into a wide range of musical projects today, both as a leader and sideman. Rooted and educated in western classical music, he has promoted manifold artistic interests beyond the borders of musical genres and forms - especially across music-cultures. Overcoming the hurdling of formal orthodox music education, a day in his musical life could start with a string quartet rehearsal, go on with a lesson in Indian raga music and may peter out on double bass in the swinging rhythm section of one of the regional jazz clubs. Apart from his musical education from Masters Johannes holds a double MA in Humanities from Heidelberg University, first and foremost in anthropology, musicology and education.

MUSICIAN Born:

Alexandra Lehmler

No time for rotating empty phrases: it goes straight forward in the third album of the Mannheim saxophonist Alexandra Lehmler. Her music has all attributes which one ascribes with pleasure to the "male" jazz: Sovereign in its presentation, complex, but not complicated. With clear perceptible roots and own expression. Briefly, from the belly coming, grown music which still marks thought thru considerations. The title of the album, "No Blah Blah" (published on Thomas Siffling's label "JAZZ'n'ARTS" and promoted from the „initiative of music“), is the theme. The compositions are substantial and exciting; the whole draught of this CD is attractive

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
