David’s Angels releases debut CD ”Substar” on Kopasetic Records, distributed through Naxos In a project where jazz, rock, minimalism, avant-garde influences the sound of the band, David’s Angels paints amazing soundscapes not easily branded. Prize-winning swedish composer-pianist Maggi Olin and vocalist Sofie Norling of Sweden, a new name with a big talent, created the music and lyrics that make up the ”Substar” CD. The theme of the set is of belonging, loss, sorrow and ambition., The musicians are born in the sixties, seventies and eighties and pulls from a diverse set of influences in creating this sound. Sofie Norling is a new graduate of Malmo Academy of Music, Sweden, and is quickly making a name for herself with a haunting beautiful voice and a intuitive and secure melodic performance

The internationally acclaimed and award-winning Swedish pianist Mattias Nilsson (b. 1980), has with more than two thousand concerts in 36 countries around the world established himself as one of Sweden's most personal pianists with his very own voice. Nilsson incorporates the Scandinavian folklore and Nordic Vemod, with influences from classical, folk and jazz music. Through his improvisations and a very warm and personal approach, this becomes a unique expression and a musical landscape with completely new shades of color. It´s not without reason they call him the Swede with the warm Scandinavian touch.

Meetings

At the moment the art projekt Meetings is happening in Malmö. The project aims to enable meetings between musical voices within a creative space based on improvisation. The idea was formed in the summer of 2017 by the musicians Jesse Emmoth and Kasper Lindberg as a reaction to the somewhat introvert sphere that improvised music often live inside. The goal was to create a musical context that is appealing and accessible for the general public and also appealing for the musicians that is invited to participate. In August “The Archipelago Suite” was performed with Josef Kallerdahl and Fredrik Davidsson as featured guest followed by “The Moody Comfort Suite” in November in which Johan Lundberg, Andreas Andersson and Mattias Hjorth participated
