Aseo Friesacher
Born:
Aseo Friesacher is a pianist and composer born in Vienna, Austria. Since an early age he was very interested in music and he was able to pick up melodies and rhythms easily. It was soon clear to him that a music career is the only thing he wants to pursue. Aseo started to play the piano at an age of 6. He was also member of the famous Vienna Boy’s Choir and got the chance to tour around the world and sing in big concert halls like the Carnegie Hall in New York or the Tokyo Opera City Hall.
At the age of fourteen Aseo found his love to jazz music by listening to songs of Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck and Didier Squiban. Eventually he formed his own jazz trio, became very active in the jazz scene and got the chance to perform in prestigious places such as the United Nations, Porgy & Bess in Vienna, as well as renowned venues in the Netherlands such as LantarenVenster and the Bimhuis. The half Japanese/Austrian talent has been awarded with multiple awards: 1st price of the Podium.Jazz Competition in Austria 2014, Finalist of the Leiden Jazz Award 2021 and 2nd prize at the Gexto Jazz Competition in 2022 with Loek van den Berg Quintet.

Fabienne Ambuehl
Fabienne Ambuehl is a London-based pianist, singer and composer born in Switzerland. Her new album ‘Thrive‘ was released in January 2025 on Ubuntu Music. The band successfully launched the album with a sold-out concert at the Vortex Jazz Club in London.
‘Thrive‘ has received glowing reviews from the international jazz press. Jazzwise Magazine rewarded it 4 stars and it has received regular radio play in the UK, including BBC Radio 3 Jazz Record Requests, ‘Round Midnight and Night Tracks. The single ‘New Ones’ was on the JazzFM playlist for several weeks. On the Catalan public radio 3cat, there is an hour-long programme about Fabienne's music. The album was also presented on Deutschlandfunkkultur and ARD Jazz - Das Magazin and was selected “Album of the Week” on both Presto Music and the German Rondo - Magazin für Klassik und Jazz.
Her band is a dynamic ensemble of brilliant musicians – Matt Ridley on bass (The Antidote, The Darius Brubeck Quartet) and Jon Scott on drums (Mulatu Astatke, GoGo Penguin, Sons of Kemet XL), with special guest guitarists Tom Ollendorff and Ant Law. Ambuehl has a strong sense of ensemble interplay and balance between individual expression and collective cohesion. As Rondo - Das Klassik & Jazz Magazin put it: “Thrive convinces with warmth, precision and excellent interplay of the band”.
Ambuehl’s music is inspired by her surroundings, from the sounds and silence of the mountains, where she finds a deep connection with nature, to the rhythms and soundscapes of the big city. Her melodic ideas and detailed arrangements are rooted in jazz, playing with a folk-tinge and showcase her expressive and supple piano playing. Her vocals “are crystal clear, distinct and refreshingly free of jazz clichés” (Neil Duggan, AllAboutJazz) and as a writer she “has a poetic sensibility and uses expertly a range of poetic techniques in her lyrics” (Trevor Hodgett, 4 stars in RNR magazine)
