Zuri Alexander holds a B.A. in Classical Music with studies in Voice and Piano from Rutgers University, an M.A. in Vocal Jazz Performance from New York University, and an M.F.A. in Acting from Rutgers University - Mason Gross School of the Arts. Coming from a musical household, she studied Piano, Flute, Violin and Voice. She has been teaching Piano and composing music since she was 13 years old. She has taught Piano and Voice at The Harlem Boys Choir School in New York, The Morristown Neighborhood House in New Jersey and currently teaches in the Los Angeles area.

A consummate singer/songwriter, her original song, "Seesaw" earned a Finalist position with the 2017 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, while her single "Tidepool" earned a finalist position in the 2017 Hollywood Music in Media Awards showcase. Both the single, "Tidepool," and her album, "Seven" won the May 2017 Akademia Music Awards for Best Americana Song and Best Jazz Album respectively. Alison also lent her songwriting and vocal talents to a recently released album of originals co-written with Peter Yarrow and survivors of the Parkland, Florida school shootings.
