Meg Morley

Classically-trained from the age of two, Melbourne-born London-based musician Meg Morley was awarded Distinctions by the Australian Music Examinations Board for its Associate and Licentiate diplomas in piano before completing a Master of Music in classical performance and a Postgraduate Certificate in composition at age twenty three. During her studies she was fortunate to have performed as a soloist with the, then, Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra and to have had her first ensemble composition performed by the internationally-acclaimed Darling Downs Trio. Meg studied jazz improvisation at the Victorian College of the Arts while she was a pianist with the Australian Ballet before moving to London, in 2010, where she has worked with various international dance companies (Matthew Bourne, Pina Bausch, English National Ballet, Rambert Company, Alvin Ailey ADT)

London-based saxophonist and composer, Nubya Garcia, is one of the leading forces behind the resurgence of jazz-influenced sounds in the UK. Raised in a creative environment built by a set of Caribbean parents, her brand of afro-tinged Jazz has made her a key component in a string of new and established groups: from work with MOBO Award-winning drummer, Moses Boyd, legendary Jungle producer and toaster, Congo Natty, through to her own works as part of six-piece, Maisha, and the Nérija septet. Sam Rapley

Originally from Manchester and now based in London, Sam Rapley is one of the UK’s most highly regarded up and coming saxophonist, clarinetist and composers. As a leader, Sam runs his own band Fabled, which features some of London’s finest young talent playing his original compositions. In 2015, Fabled released their debut EP to critical acclaim, with critics heralding Rapley as ‘engaging storyteller’ and ‘a deeply sentimental architect’. In February 2018 they will be releasing their first full length album, ‘Short Stories’ followed by a UK tour in March / April. Initially studying with Iain Dixon in Manchester, whilst at the Royal Academy of Music, Sam studied with Stan Sulzmann, Iain Ballamy, James Allsopp, Seb Rochford and Chris Richards from LSO, and was lucky enough to perform with Dave Douglas, Dave Holland and John Hollenbeck as well as playing in masterclasses with Jerry Bergonzi and The Impossible Gentlemen

Laura Jurd

Laura Jurd is a trumpet player, composer and improviser from the UK. A recipient of multiple awards and a BBC New Generation Artist from 2015-2017, Laura has developed a formidable reputation as one of the most distinctive and creative composer-performers to emerge from the UK in recent years.

Performing regularly throughout the UK and Europe, she leads the 2017 Mercury-nominated band Dinosaur who have performed at North Sea, Montreal and Molde International Jazz festivals to name a few. A highly active composer, Laura's is equally at home writing for contemporary chamber groups and orchestras as she is writing for jazz ensembles and improvising musicians

Currently based in London, Tjoe is an emerging musician from Hong Kong. This Musicians Institute alumnus is a favoured sideman in the Pop scene, a talented Jazz guitarist, a proficient arranger and composer. He is active in London since 2015, performing in popular acclaimed venues and doing projects with various artists and singers. Early life_He grew up in Hong Kong and started to play guitar at 19. At the very beginning he played a lot of American Rock, Motown and Funk Music like Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Mr Big, AC/DC etc. 2006_Tjoe formed a Funk band "PickpakZhai" with his friends and won the champion of YAMAHA Asian Beat Band Competition in Hong Kong

Sebastiaan de Krom

Born:

Dutch drummer Sebastiaan de Krom (Dordrecht, 1970) plays drums with jazz artists like Geoff Gascoyne and Jamie Cullum. He started playing drums at age three. Sebastiaan de Krom received his frst lessons from his father, who played in a jazz band, followed by Gijsbert Zwart in Ede. Sebastiaan de Krom went to the Berkley School of Music, where he received lessons by John Ramsey, Joe Hunt, and Jon Hazilla among others. He took private lessons from Ralph Peterson as well, followed by a study at the Monk Institute New England Conservatory, where he studied with Fred Buddha, and with Charlie Parship in New York. Sebastiaan de Krom has played with Guy Barker, Tommy Smith, Tim Garland's Big Band, Herbie Hancock, Gene Harris, Wynton Marsalis, John Scofield, Clark Terry, Phil Woods, Barry Harris, Dave Holland, Joe Lock, Ron Carter, Steve Watts and Hein van de Geijn among others. Sebastiaan de Krom is currently residing in London, UK.

Sonia Edgy is a premiere UK jazz vocalist with a distinctive sound embracing over 4-octaves of voice range. Growing up in Polish mountains, Sonia received her early music education from some of the finest Polish artists.In 2008 Sonia was offered a scholarship from Frost School of Music University of Miami (USA) and successfully passed entry exams at K. Szymanowski Academy of Music (PL) for Jazz Voice studies. In 2009 she got signed to an international booking agency and for the next 5 years continuously performed in over 10 countries across Europe, Asia and Middle East, singing with variety of bands singing mainly jazz music but including also some pop, reggae, soul and rock gigs

OSWANDO JAZZ QUARTET New album : towards freedom After having moved to Paris, he has recruited three great musicians to found the “Oswando Jazz Quartet” with whom he released his last album “Towards Freedom”. This album deals with people coming across during their mutual immigration trip: on one side, an afro-american jazzman called Isaac Brooks from New York and willing to break through with his music in Paris; on the other side, a Polish couple, scared by the growth of Nazism in Europe and trying to flee towards the United States. This album also pays tribute to two anti-segregation activists: Jean McNair who died in 2014 and the famous Rosa Parks. Born in Kinshasa, Oswando left with his family to France, Basse-Normandie when he was 9 and then learnt French at his arrival

Siks Haedo

Diego Lipnizky started elaborating the idea of the band in Madrid a year ago, working on composition. The prospect of a life change, moving to Paris, gave him great inspiration and emotions... It appeared vital to translate it into music. The instrumentation of this project is fast emerging as a sextet, despite the difficulties that this implies in terms of composition and production. The texture of the trumpet/flugelhorn is in Diego’s mind when writing the melodic lead, and the alto saxophone for bringing the second voice and counterpoints. The guitar must be a polyrhythmic element : playing a line that meets the melody, complements the harmony and gives a rhythmic definition. The bass should serve the harmonic definition while being a polyrhythmic element perfectly in tune with the drums and the guitar. The piano brings harmony
