Lloyd Swanton
Born:
Lloyd Swanton (born August 14, 1960, in Sydney, Australia) is a double bassist, electric bassist, composer, and bandleader. He began studying classical piano before taking up electric bass as a teenager, and became active in Sydney's jazz scene in the early 1980s. During this period he worked with musicians and groups including pianist Chris Abrahams, The Benders, the Bernie McGann Trio and Quartet, and the Dynamic Hepnotics. His early work encompassed jazz, improvised music, and other contemporary styles, and he subsequently incorporated both electric and double bass into his playing.
