Clockwork: The Contest
by Eyal Hareuveni
Trondheim, Norway's jazz conservatory has an excellent reputation for nurturing countless original musicians and outfits. Clockwork, a Norway/Sweden quartet, was formed in that conservatory in 2009 and, after numerous tours, now has The Contest, a debut co-produced, mixed and mastered by Swedish saxophonist Jonas Kullhammar. The compositions were written by three quartet members: ...

01. Börje Fredriksson - Intervall (Columbia - 1965). Sassofonista e compositore svedese tra i più interessanti. Sfortunatamente è questo l'unico disco realizzato prima del tragico suicidio. 02. Per Henrik Wallin - Where Is Spring (Dragon - 1984). Un altro genio svedese, e una delle grandi fonti di ispirazione. Album in trio con Torbjörn Hultcrantz al basso ...
Svenska Kaputt: Svenska Kaputt
by James Pearse
Svenska Kaputt is a hybrid band comprising acclaimed musicians from Stockholm, Sweden's busy jazz and rock scenes. The debut recording, Svenska Kaputt, is a heady brew of jazz exploration (influenced by artists active in the late 1960s) with that of psychedelic and progressive rock (bands from the late 1960s and early 1970s).While saxophonist Jonas ...
Jonas Kullhammar - Espen Aalberg - Torbjorn Zetterberg: Basement Sessions - Vol. 1
by AAJ Italy Staff
Zanussi 13: Live
by Mark Corroto
Don't let anyone tell you that size doesn't matter. It does. For a large jazz ensemble, size often dictates sound: its suppleness or lack of. This is not a problem for the malleable Zanussi 13. This live recording from a 2001 performance in Oslo displays an unpretentious big band that deals with size by exploiting its ...

Jonas Holgersson: Snick Snack
by Mark Corroto
Swedish drummer Jonas Holgersson's trio releases its first recording of original music, its apparent appreciation of the jazz tradition balanced by the manifestation of a kind of composed stoicism that makes Snick Snackan unimpeachable session.Holgersson has held the drum chair in bands led by both saxophonist Jonas Kullhammar and trumpeter Magnus Broo. This debut ...

The State of Jonas Kullhammar's Moserobie 2010
by Mark Corroto
The brainchild of Swedish saxophonist Jonas Kullhammar, Moserobie Music has released nearly one hundred discs to date in May 2010. Kullhammar's vision to “save the world through good music" might be a bit ambitious, but perhaps the venture is more important than the destination. Moserobie has released music by familiar names including saxophonist Hakon Kornstad and ...
