Bruno Elisabetsky

Born:

Born in São Paulo (Brazil) and based in New Orleans (USA), the composer, guitarist (6 and 7 string guitar) and singer explores the dialogues between the Brazilian musical tradition in conjunction with jazz and classical music, as recorded in his three works as a composer and performer released so far: Quarteto Quadrantes: Passos Largos (2013) and Sinuosa (2016) with Quarteto Quadrantes. These first two works feature participation from renowned figures in Brazilian music such as Joyce Moreno, Naylor Proveta, Toninho Ferraguti, Teco Cardoso, among others.: “traditional tales of music dominate this recording, but these musicians live for the love and danger of modern art. The passions of the underbelly of Brasilian culture inflame their work. Bruno Elisabetsky, the quartet’s composer fashions these narratives from silken melodies about the pleasures and realities of urban life. But the dusty shuffle of traditional (rural) rhythms is never far away. The gripping forms of the idiomatic tradition of Brazil run parallel to the contemporary, abstract impressionistic art” . The artist’s most recent release as a composer/guitarist is entitled "Xadrez", from 2019, recorded on a guitar trio instrumentation. “Bruno Elisabetsky is part of a Brazilian Guitar legacy of which I also belong to. He is one of the heirs of the fusion that took place within the last decades between the universe of Guinga and the Minas school of Toninho Horta, the rhythmic guitar of Baden Powell and the subtlety of João Gilberto. Bruno etches his own voice in beautiful and mature compositions, securing a place among the outstanding figures of Brazil’s contemporary guitar scene.” – guitarist and music producer Daniel Santiago on the album “Xadrez”.

David Garfield has been driven by the same mission statement since moving from his hometown of St. Louis to Los Angeles as a teenager in the early '70s: “I make music.” Fully living up to this vision and in more expansive ways over the past few decades, the multi-talented keyboardist, composer, arranger and recording artist has established himself an eclectic force of musical nature. At any given point during his career—and often at the same time—he has been a renowned songwriter, producer, bandleader (of Los Angeles based contemporary world jazz collectives Karizma and Los Lobotomys), arranger, recording artist, record label owner (Creatchy Records), session and touring musician, musical director and composer of various commissioned themes for global organizations.

Supervoc

Born:

Two members of UK progressive rock band, Sanguine Hum, release their second volume of music as Supervoc – a “jazz trio”, of sorts…
Currently a recording project with Paul Mallyon doubling on bass and drums, and pianist Matt Baber, who explains:
“this really came about following some of the experimental jamming during the writing sessions for the last Sanguine Hum album, A Trace of Memory. Paul and I had worked on the initial idea of a more improvisational track that had the working title of Supervoc, but eventually became Automaton. In the months after that album, we started jamming but to separate it from Sanguine Hum, we kept the instrumentation simple…just piano, bass and drums

Musician

Vasil Hadzimanov

Born:

Vasil’s concept of mixing Balkan traditional, folk rhythms and melodies with modern musical styles (most originating from the west, including: jazz; funk; avant garde; electronica; rock; trance; and more) has been the impetus for creating his own unique "musical hybrid," of sorts. This sophisticated sonic stew is completely original, authentic and embraces a bold new approach to musical expression within the context of the fusion and jazz genres.

It was this vision that inspired him to form The Vasil Hadzimanov Band, back in 1995 — when they made their first recordings and began performing live.
