Jackson was born in northern Utah and began playing guitar at the age of twelve. At fifteen, he attended a concert given by his first teacher, Corey Christiansen. The experience left such an impression he decided to dedicate himself to a career as a jazz guitarist.
Jackson went on to study with legendary educator and author Mike Christiansen before moving to the southeast where he established the regionally known band, Silver Lining with his wife Maggie, a bassist and singer.
Now based in Savannah, Georgia, Jackson is known well known as an in-demand band leader, composer, arranger and accompanist
