Julie Loveson was born in Oslo, Norway. At the age of 8 she had her debut on the piano in the University-Aula in Oslo. In Vienna she studied classical composition at the University of Music. During an one year educational stay at the University of Miami she studied jazz composition and jazz piano and finalized her jazz education with a jazzpiano diploma from the Franz Schubert Conservatory. 2006 she got the master of arts degree in composition.
