Musician

Günter Wehinger

Günter Wehinger, born in Austria where he earned a conservatory degree in 1982, subsequently moved to the USA in 1987 to study with the great James Newton in Los Angeles. After a two year period in San Francisco, he returned to Europe. He dove into a musical career that has included both jazz and classical performances as well as intensive teaching duties (music universities of Zürich and Basel). Wehinger‘s flute ranges from pristine and romantic lyricism to hair-raising multiphonics, screames and groans. His albums „As Promised“ 1993 and „Cry Flute“ 1995 were recorded in New York with top players such as Peter Madsen, Michael Cain, Anthony Cox and Pheeroan Aklaff
