Aravah Quintet
The band Aravah Quintet started its journey in spring 2006, when the two bandleaders Boris Mogilevski (Israel) and Ulas Aksunger (Germany/Turkey) met during their studies at the Conservatory of Rotterdam “Codarts” where Boris studied jazz guitar and Ulas latin percussion. After a couple of fruitful musical sessions with hummus, pita and cay the foundation of their first band named Noahs Ark, (now a name of one of their compositions) was laid down. After going through changes in instrumentation and arrangements the band came to find their characteristic sound in their current formation as a quintet, with Jasper van Damme on Soprano sax, Eleonora Roussou on flutes and Jeroen Vierdag on bass. The band plays original music that can be defined as a fusion of jazz improvisation, Middle Eastern flavors and rock moments. Changing different instruments brings upon different colors and moods in their music and leads to interesting textures; combination of flute (E.Roussou) and soprano saxophone (J.v

Graham Ling
Classically trained from an early age, I wondered through the '80s not knowing what to listen to or play. Grunge happened to me in a big way, and I rocked throughout my twenties, but come my thirties I was looking for something as challenging as classical but with the raw emotion of rock music. It was then I discovered jazz, or rather, when a stranger approached me after a gig in Stonehaven and said that he would love to play saxophone on some of the blues numbers I played and lent me his Real Book. From then on I was hooked. Ken and I became the KG Influence, which compliments my solo performances; more recently, I've been in-demand as a singer for established jazz bands such as Cindy Douglas Quartet, Lewis Benzies Group and Jazz Attic.

Bonefish Johnny
Born:
His name's borrowed from a Bahamian angler, his songs from a driftwood pile of rhythm and style. "I'm in the moving business," says Bonefish Johnny. Crossing over between the indie, blues and jamband scenes for years with funk rock act Groove Thangs (signed to Epic, produced by Tom Dowd), eclectic barband Shack Daddys and his live Funky Roots Revue, Bonefish Johnny makes music to move to and be moved by. It's always been a sound unbound. "How do you put '60's soul, calypso, reggae, blues, swampy New Orleans shuffles, trashy surf music, R&B, rap, funk, go-go, Carolina shag, Elvis and James Brown in the same sentence, let alone the same song?" despaired an early reviewer. Now considered a genre unto himself, Bonefish Johnny may be lauded throughout the urban swamps of lower Florida but he's still being discovered in the civilized world beyond
