Matt Schofield

Born in Manchester on August 21st 1977, Matt Schofield grew up listening to the sounds of his Father’s collection of classic blues LPs. Already familiar with the music of Muddy Waters, Freddie, Albert and B.B. King, along with contemporary guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, he began fooling with the guitar around the age of 7, after his family had relocated to Gloucestershire. However, after a brief spell with the bass guitar, the defining moment for Matt came at age 12 whilst visiting his Dad who had by now moved to Northern California. There he saw a video of B.B

About Otis Taylor

Musician

Otis Taylor

Born:

Otis Taylor - guitar, banjo, vocals With Otis Taylor, it’s best to expect the unexpected. While his music, an amalgamation of roots styles in their rawest form, discusses heavyweight issues like murder, homelessness, tyranny and injustice, his personal style is lighthearted. “I’m good at dark, but I’m not a particularly unhappy person,” he says. Part of Taylor’s appeal is his contrasting character traits. But it is precisely this element of surprise that makes him one of the most compelling artists to emerge in recent years. Guitar Player proclaimed him “arguably the most relevant blues artist of our time,” while Billboard has called him “one of the most innovative, thought-provoking blues artists to emerge in the last 20 years.” Whether it’s his unique instrumentation (he fancies banjo and cello), or the sudden sound of a female vocal, or a seemingly upbeat optimistic song takes a turn for the forlorn, what remains consistent is poignant storytelling based in truth and history. Truth and history are at the heart of “Recapturing the Banjo,” Taylor’s fifth release on Telarc

About Harvey Valdes

Musician

Harvey Valdes

Harvey’s eclectic musical journey spans the East and the West, the electric and the acoustic, the ensemble and the solo voice. Traversing expansive stylistic ground from jazz, world, to funk, punk, and avant-garde, Harvey plays the six and seven-string guitar, the oud and Turkish cumbus. Endlessly curious about the guitar’s sonic range, Harvey plays with pushing its potential. Highlighting texture, stretching time, and shaping tone he re-imagines the guitar as a horn, an orchestra, a mechanistic roar. Recently, Harvey was featured for the site, Guitar Moderne. His composition, “Listen", was chosen as Editor’s Pick by Guitar Player Magazine
