Victor Baker

Victor Baker began playing guitar in 1980 when he stole his sister’s cheap acoustic out of her room. He also had a tendency to tear apart and reassemble every guitar he came across. In 2000, Victor started his journey into guitar making. Originally taken on purely as a hobby, Vic was floored by the art of luthiery and fell completely in love with the craft. He proceeded to read every book and publication possible in order to teach himself the trade, and was soon taking orders from local players. Since then, Vic has built over 450 custom guitars.

Vic is also an avid composer and performer, and has performed as both a leader and sideman in many of New York’s jazz clubs including the 55 Bar, Birdland, Detour, K’av’eh’az, Smalls, Cornelia St

Grupo Los Santos

Grupo los Santos has been together for over 20 years developing a strong following and individual sound, with a patented blend of Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Flamenco and NYC Jazz influences; creating unique, original rumba, samba, and funky acoustic/electric music. Drawing from the traditional/folkloric music of the Americas, played with an open and spontaneous jazz sensibility, the band cuts a very atypical profile in New York's Jazz and Latin Jazz scene. The band's love and individual deep study of these musical traditions has born great fruits, both compositionally and in performance and execution. The sound is coherent, focused and intelligent-the music is both classic and forward-looking at the same time-and the expression is original, soulful, high-energy and transcendent of idiom.

Winko Ljizz

Born:

Something has been missing from the northeast corner of 22nd and J streets for the past couple months. Those familiar with the weekend scene in this area have noticed the absence of a large, purple truck bearing the words, “Acoustic Sanctuary.”

Many people have become acquainted with this entertainment venue on wheels from the inside, while others maintain certain levels of curiosity from afar.

Accompanied with the green, lighted words, “OneManBand” and “Storyteller,” and stairs leading up to its purple curtain-covered entrance, this unique roadside attraction has been hard to miss. It had been a fixture of this midtown street corner on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays evenings since 2002.

Daniel Dyonisius

Born:

26 year old composer and guitarist Daniel Dyonisius hails from Jakarta, Indonesia. While classically trained, his music is at the intersection of jazz, rock, and blues. Miles to Go (Demajors-December 2021) is his debut album and it includes seven original tunes and a fresh take on "Stella by Starlight". An homage to Indonesian composers and songwriters, Miles to Go is something of a spiritual journey through music, from soaring lead guitar lines to soothing ballads and with simple, melodic themes that counterbalance extensive and explorative improvisation.
