Inspired by a crossover of modern Jazz-Rock icons and a host of many other contemporary artists from the Progressive Rock, Fusion, Metal and modern music genres, it is all well blended into an own fresh and distinct musical direction.

The music features virtuosic performances of various compelling and colorful compositions, produced on top of a cinematic, orchestral, some say Sci-Fi film-like backgrounds, atmospheric soundscapes and various implanted sound effects drawing the listener into a total, electrifying experience.

Ed's recording facility includes a very large array of real percussion instruments (marimba/vibes, hand drums, world percussion, etc.). Originally from Chicago, Ed Hartman is an accomplished composer, performer, and educator. Max Gerl is an acoustic and electric bassist hailing from Dallas, Texas. Gerl picked up the electric bass at 11 and the acoustic bass at 15. He quickly became an integral part of the Dallas music scene before moving to Boston, MA, where he graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music ('17). Derek Bomback

Born:

Derek Bomback brings a distinctive voice to jazz guitar. His career has taken him all over the world with performances on six of the seven continents. Vocalist Jay Jackson has said of Bomback’s playing: “Displayed a soulful patience that you don’t often find…” Bomback’s music combines influences from American and European jazz, to bring a fresh sound to his sophisticated, yet melodic playing. Derek studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he received dual degrees in Jazz Composition and Guitar Performance in 2010. Shortly after moving back to Los Angeles, he was hired by Princess Cruise Lines where he is currently one of the company’s musical directors.

Kamil Abt

Kamil Abt is a Polish-Australian jazz guitarist, composer, band-leader and arranger. He is a graduate of the prestigious Elder Conservatorium of Music and has been performing internationally – in Australia, Japan and Europe – for over twenty years. His musical career started in Australia, in Steve Mooney’s hard bop quintet, “Fifth House”. It was there that he also led his own jazz formations: Mosholu Parkway, Jazzyowski and SpeciaL K, also working with musicians such as Adam Page, Daniel J. Ross, Constantinos Koutsouliotas and John Wilson. In Japan he worked in renowned alto saxophone player Hiroshi Yaginuma’s quintet as well as with the Atsushi Matsunaga quartet, while also leading his own quartet

Special Purpose

Combining vintage keyboards and lead guitar, Special Purpose blends psychedelic sounds with earthy elements of funk and jazz. The band has been playing shows in the Portland, Oregon area since 2016 with some of the best musicians in the city. Their debut instrumental album Password, written by guitarist Lance Vallis, was released in 2019 and features Paul Paresa on keyboards (Sweet n’ Juicy, Cloud 6), Hunter Parmentier on bass (Stephen Marley), and Forest Carter on drums (Far Out West, Giraffe Dodgers).

The Beat Freaks

The Beat Freaks - a jazz quartet founded in Szczecin by guitarist Michał Starkiewicz in 2014. The musicians have many individual awards and achievements to their credit; they have collaborated and continue to collaborate with the cream of jazz musicians and beyond.

They have two studio albums to their name, "Leon" (2016) (Top Ten 2016 according to PolishJazzBlogspot journalists) and "Stay Calm" (2019). They also recorded music for the film "Zamoyski - Sculptor with a Camera," which was released digitally.

In 2018, the band made it to the top ten of "Electric Jazz Bands" as well as in the category of "New Jazz Band Hope" according to JazzForum readers. The musicians have performed on the most important jazz stages in Poland and abroad.

"The Mechanics of Nature" is the third studio album by The Beat Freaks, on which the musicians invited a special guest - American trumpeter Ralph Alessi.

Julian Hartwell

Julian Hartwell is a sought-after jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, and educator based in Philadelphia, PA. Originally hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, for the past 18 years he has been performing throughout the Delaware Valley and beyond – making a name for himself and sharing his talents at jazz clubs to rock venues, high-class cocktail hours, local jam sessions and everything in between. In addition to an adjunct faculty role in the music department of his alma mater Temple University, some of Hartwell’s most recent career highlights include a solo performance at the Barnes Foundation presented through Philly Jazz Project, gracing the stage of the Media Theatre for the region’s inaugural TedX event, and performing as a sideman with Indian sitar and tabla virtuoso Ustad Shafaat Khan in his East Meets West fusion project
