Fred D. Hunter

Fred Hunter's career as a jazz bassist spans over thirty years. He's performed and recorded with Mary Lou Williams, Harry “Sweets” Edison, Louie Bellson, Clark Terry, Panama Francis, Houston Person, Etta Jones, Jimmy Hill, Alvin Queen, and many others. Fred worked for twenty years in bands led by saxophonist Illinois Jacquet. Fred says, "One of the most swinging-est bands I was ever in, led by a REAL legend!" In the band were Wayne Andre, Grey Sargent, Virgil Jones and others. He's also been in the orchestra pit for Broadway and off-Broadway productions such as "Harlem Nocturne," "Blues in the Night" and others
