Rudy Royston

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Denver, Colorado, Royston has been a professional teacher, drummer and percussionist for almost twenty years. He studied classical percussion at University of Denver where earned undergraduate degrees in Music and English; Rudy accomplished teacher certification credentials from Metropolitan State College of Denver. Rudy grew up playing drums in church, and found his voice under the auspices of Colorado’s celebrated trumpeter Ron Miles, whom Royston deems his greatest influence, and with whom Rudy has played since 1991. Pertti Jalava

Born: May 4, 1960

Pertti Jalava (b. 1960 in Turku , Finland ) has composed numerous works for various chamber ensembles and orchestra, among them four symphonies, a flute concerto and a double concerto for piano and flute. He has also written a considerable volume of music for big band and his jazz ensemble, in which he playes drums and keyboards. Though stylistically he keeps his two main genres (jazz / chamber and orchestral music) separate, without engaging in crossover, he does allow influences to travel between the two and they have many features in common: the important role assigned to rhythm and melody, polyphony, picturesque narrative and richness of event. Nate Wood

Born: October 3, 1979

No doubt, Wood is a wildly endowed and original musician." -Steve Krugman (hollywooddrum.com) Nate is a founding member of the Grammy nominated quintet Kneebody. Kneebody released their self titled debut album in 2005 on trumpeter Dave Douglas’s label Greenleaf Music. In 2007, Kneebody released “Low Electrical Worker” on Colortone Media. They completed an album of arrangements of Charles Ives compositions with singer Theo Bleckmann and released the recording “12 Songs of Charles Ives” which was nominated “Best Classical Crossover Album” Grammy Award (2009, Winter and Winter). Kneebody’s latest record “The Line” was released on Concord Records in 2013. Kneedeuls, a collaboration with electronic artist Daedelus was released in November of 2015 on Brainfeeder Records.

Montez Coleman

Steve Hass

After attending Boston's prestigious Berklee College Of Music on full scholarship, Steve Hass moved to New York City joining the Ravi Coltrane Group. Along side Lonnie Plaxico, Michael Cain, and Ralph Alessi, Steve was playing a mixture of hard bop, funky odd meter grooves and free improvisation in Ravi's band. During his five years with the group, Hass was also freelancing and recording with several local singer/songwriters and working at jingle houses in New York City including Fluid Post Music, Three Tree Productions, Ian London Productions, and Red House to name a few. He had local weekly gigs with The Bitter End house band, The Blue Note house band and Monday nights at Zinc Bar with The Ron Affif Trio. He also had touring stints with artists such as, Richard Bona, Christian McBride, Suzanne Vega, Miri Ben Ari and many more. The Ravi Coltrane group gave Steve his first major label album credit for the critically acclaimed Mad 6, released on Sony Music, as well numerous european tours. At 24 years of age, Hass was touring and recording with some of the world's most influential artists and making a name for himself as an in demand session musician.

Paul Thibodeaux

Paul Thibodeaux (drums) was born in Southeast Louisiana. Raised on Cajun music, Paul received his Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies at the University of New Orleans. He was a student at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). He has studied under drummers Johnny Vidacovich, Ed Petersen and the legendary Alvin Batiste. Thibodeaux is the driving percussive force behind the Renaissance of the sound of the Dukes of Dixieland®. Prior to joining the DOD, Paul has worked with and continues to work with many New Orleans musicians including Cliff Hines, Rick Trolsen, James Singleton, Steve Masakowski, George French, Don Vappie, and vocalists Sasha Masakowski and Aurora Nealand
