Barba Negri Ziliani

BARBA NEGRI ZILIANI is the trio formed by Riccardo Barba (piano), Federico Negri (drums) and Nicola Ziliani (double bass). The group was born after years of collaboration in projects ranging from contemporary classical music through jazz and author's music. Combining the different experiences and studies of the three musicians, the trio was officially born in 2019 and released their first album TOO MANY KEYS in 2020. ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERGROUND is the second album by the trio BARBA NEGRI ZILIANI. After the first album and a sound research aimed at electronic experimentation and the contamination between structural elements of classical music, the sounds of rock music and the insertion of synthesizers and electronics all based on the classic formation of the piano trio, the group has crystallized in this new work the results of that research.

Machado Mijiga

Born:
Multi-instrumentalist and Portland native Machado Mijiga wears many hats, both literally and metaphorically. Classically-trained, jazz-weathered, and eclectically inclined, Mijiga left the proverbial creative "box" at a very early age, with access to many instruments and a diverse musical background brought about by an intercultural heritage. Mijiga is a musical polymath; composer, producer, bandleader, educator, gear fanatic, and audio engineer, to name a few. Authenticity and uniquity assume the locus of Mijiga's artistic identity. Self-expression is the prime directive, and the medium of choice changes like the weather.

Grupo Los Santos

Grupo los Santos has been together for over 20 years developing a strong following and individual sound, with a patented blend of Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Flamenco and NYC Jazz influences; creating unique, original rumba, samba, and funky acoustic/electric music. Drawing from the traditional/folkloric music of the Americas, played with an open and spontaneous jazz sensibility, the band cuts a very atypical profile in New York's Jazz and Latin Jazz scene. The band's love and individual deep study of these musical traditions has born great fruits, both compositionally and in performance and execution. The sound is coherent, focused and intelligent-the music is both classic and forward-looking at the same time-and the expression is original, soulful, high-energy and transcendent of idiom.

Asa Nero

Asa Nero was born with music in his bones. The son of saxophonist and Washington D.C. native Courtney Nero, he grew up listening to his father’s extensive CD collection, and developed an early connection to gospel, R&B, and jazz--especially hard bop. Asa taught himself to play drums starting around age 3, and began taking piano lessons at age 4. He was gigging in the D.C. area with his father around 8 years old, and was hired as a church musician before the 5th grade. In middle and high school, he studied drums and percussion with D.C. music scene staples Nasar Abadey and MSG Harold Summey (US Army Band, ret.), and in 2015, Asa was recruited to join the Blues Alley Youth Orchestra by its director, prolific bassist and educator Michael Bowie. As a long-time member of the Orchestra, Asa played notable D.C. venues such as the Kennedy Center and the legendary Blues Alley Jazz Club, as well as performing live on 89.3 WPFW FM.
