Leroy Williams

Born: February 3, 1937

Leroy Williams is an American jazz drummer.

Williams first began playing drums as a teenager in the 1950s. From 1959 to the middle of the 1960s he played with Judy Roberts, and following this he moved to New York City and played with Booker Ervin in 1967. In 1968 he played with Sonny Rollins, Archie Shepp, and Clifford Jordan; in 1969 he first began playing with Barry Harris, with whom he would collaborate often. 1970 saw him playing with Hank Mobley, Wilbur Ware, and Thelonious Monk, the latter of which he went with on a tour of Japan. Later in the 1970s he played with Yusef Lateef, Ray Bryant, Charles McPherson, Stan Getz, Andrew Hill, Sonny Stitt, Junior Cook, Al Cohn, Buddy Tate, and Bob Wilber.

Rich Austin

Born: July 25, 1962

Drummer Rich Austin has played in countless groups of varying size, style and configuration from big bands, symphony orchestras to smaller jazz ensembles featuring jazz, latin, rock, R+B and even country. In 1985 he began a long creative association with pianist/composer Bob McHugh that continued to Rich's passing. In 1992 Mr. Austin released the CD "Smoke Signals" on Alliance Records his debut album as a leader and in 1994 played on and co-produced Bob McHugh's CD "Manhattan Sunrise" also on Alliance which featured latin percussionist Ray Mantilla. Rich also played on and contributed to three other Bob McHugh albums "Soaring On Wings Of Ivory and Black" and "Another Sunrise" on Outstanding Records and "Straight Ahead" on Lunge Music

Janne Tuomi

Born: September 28, 1973

Janne Tuomi was born in 1973 in Tampere, Finland. Coming from a family of musicians and music educators, it was only natural that this first-born began playing the piano at the age of six. But the infatuation was not to last as percussion soon lured him away from the ebonies and ivories.

Tuomi commenced studying at the Conservatory of Tampere in 1995 and further honed his skills at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense, Denmark. After undertaking a study trip to New York City, Tuomi graduated from the Conservatory in 2000 with honours.

In 2001 he travelled to Los Angeles to take private lessons. Five years later, Tuomi passed his degree examination with honours with a solo concert at the contemporary music festival Tampere Biennale.

Neal Smith

Will Calhoun

Born: July 22, 1964

Will Calhoun, the widely acclaimed drummer from the Bronx, New York, graduated from the Berklee School of Music in Boston, where he received a Bachelors degree in Music Production and engineering. Thomas Strønen

Born: December 7, 1972

Colin Stranahan

Born In Denver, Colorado, and the son of a Jazz Educator, Colin Stranahan has always been surrounded by music. 

By his teenage years he was already actively working on the local Denver scene, and has recorded multiple records of Capri Records. 

After receiving the prestigious NFAA Presidential Scholar award in 2005 , he studied in California for one year as a Brubeck Institute Fellow. Shortly thereafter he attended the prestigious Monk Institute of Jazz. Stranahan was also one of the winners of the 2012 Thelonious Monk Drum Competition. 

Now living in Brooklyn, New York, Colin is among the most sought-after drummers in the world. working with such artist as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jonathan Kreisberg, Fred Hersch, Terence Blanchard, Dave Kikoski, Kevin Hays, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and many others. He also now is part of a collective trio featuring some of the most talented and praised you musicians in New York City. Rick Rosato on bass and Glenn Zaleski on piano. Together they are the Stranahan/Zaleski/Rosato trio. They have recorded 2 albums that have been very successful and a third on the way which was recorded Live at Smalls which is scheduled to be released in 2015. 

Tiziano Tononi

Born: November 18, 1956

Born in Milano on November 18th 1956, starts playing in rock bands and gets closer to jazz since the mid-seventies. In 1978 meets american percussionist Andrew Cyrille with whom starts studying in New York and subsequently in Europe. In 1979 enrolls the Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano, studying classical percussion under David Lee Searcy, principal tympanist at the Teatro alla Scala, Milano. In that same year returns to New York to study with Bob Moses, and founds the group Nexus with saxophonist Daniele Cavallanti. Gets known with Nexus, in Italy first and then in Europe, through concerts and festivals appearances: Milano, Cagliari, Clusone, Bolzano, Noci, Le Mans, Koln, Moers, Vienna, Vilshofen, Opeye, Mulhouse, Verona, Saarbrucken-St.Ingbert, Gent, Tampere, S.AnnaArresi, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Vancouver, Istanbul.

Jimmy "Junebug" Jackson

Born: January 18, 1957

Jimmy Jackson's association with jazz is a profound experience in itself. For over 20 years Jackson toured the world with legendary organist Jimmy Smith, and during the course of this prestigious tenure he also performed with other such masters as McCoy Tyner; George Benson; Carlos Santana, and Christian McBride (who refers to Jimmy as "swinging Jimmy Jackson"). Having shared the stage for so many years with these and other giants of jazz - and the list is extensive - makes Jackson a living icon in his own right.      On My Way Home features arrangements inspired by a 1961 collaboration between Cannonball Adderley and Nancy Wilson. There are several original tunes as well that keep the musical dialogue between past and present alive and intact

Pete Cater

Born: February 8, 1963

Pete Cater’s father (Peter Cater) was a drummer and his grandfather a jazz saxophonist and bandleader. Pete took up drums at a very early age and played with the Muidland Youth Jazz Orchestra. After playing with bands around the Midlands in the UK he formed his own big band in 1995 and this received the accolade of Best Big Band in the British Jazz Awards 2000. He is a versatile drummer playing in all configurations of jazz groups and has accompanied many well known musicians including Spike Robinson, Benny Carter, Harry Edison, Terry Gibbs and Buddy de Franco. He plays all styles of jazz from big band, swing and mainstream to contemporary jazz
