Ray Brinker

Ray Brinker is a professional drummer based in Los Angeles, CA. Ray received a Bachelor Of Music in Jazz Studies from North Texas State University, and performed as a member of NTSU’s Grammy-nominated 1 O’Clock Lab Band. Upon graduation from NTSU, Ray toured worldwide with jazz high-note trumpet player Maynard Ferguson before moving to the West Coast, where he has become a staple in the Los Angeles studio and performance scene.

Duncan Moore

I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and began my drum studies at the age of 8. After years of school bands and orchestras, as well as weekend gigs with various rock bands, I moved to Iowa City, majoring in music at the University of Iowa. Studying percussion with Tom Davis, and playing with local jazz groups kept me busy until 1977, when I moved to San Diego, CA. I also maintain a home recording studio, where I record drum and percussion tracks for various projects. Besides teaching privately, I am the drumset instructor at Mira Costa College in Oceanside California, as well as the University of California San Diego, in La Jolla

I have been an in demand freelance drummer and percussionist in Chicago, IL, and the metropolitan area since 1980. In that time I have played thousands of gigs of all types, in every possible venue! For this reason, I find that 'Primary Genre" prompt, above, to be quite limiting! A PRO drummer should be able to cover a lot of bases--- that is the way that I was taught and that's the way that i teach. I am a 1982 graduate of the DePaul University School of Music, and my musical influences are varied and exhaustive. I play and teach all styles and genres of MUSIC . Laurence Cook

Born: June 8, 1939

Laurence Cook studied painting at the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston and later learned to play piano, vibraphone, and drums. He has been a major figure in the jazz avant-garde since the 1960's on twenty-two recordings, including Revenge, and Dual Unity with {{m: Paul Bley = 5083}}; Skillfullnes with {{Alan Silva}},Wraparound with {{m: Joe Morris = 9614}}; "Fuzzagainst Junk" from Vision 1997 Festival with {{m: Thurston Moore = 9571}}; Triplet and Fire in the Valley with {{Jemeel Moondoc}}; Divine Mad Love with {{m: Sabir Mateen = 20866}}; November 1981, Thoughts, and Son of Sisyphus with {{m: Bill Dixon = 6301}}. He has worked with {{m: Sam Rivers = 10719}}, {{m: Lowell Davidson = 6110}}, {{m: Rahn Burton = 5487}},{{Alan Silva}}, The Brecker Brothers, {{Robin Kenyatta}}, {{m: Mark Whitecage = 3094}}, and {{m: Barre Phillips = 10270}} among many others. From the 1980s to now, Laurence has been at the epicenter of all that is worthwhile in Boston including nearly two decades with {{m: Eric Zinman = 20359}} and an emeritus mentorship via drum kit to the Boston core community in its most vivacious phase in several decades. John Lamkin

Formerly the Director of Bands and the Coordinator of Music Education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, John Lamkin, II, received his Bachelor's Degree from South Carolina University, his Masters from Morgan State University and his Doctorate from the University of Maryland College Park. All degrees in Music Education.

A native of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Dr. Lamkin taught in the public school system in South Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland before joining the faculty at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. During his tenure at UMES, Dr. Lamkin was instrumental in attracting many jazz icons work and perform with his students

Ron van Stratum

Dutch drummer/percussionist Ron van Stratum has a reputation of being able to play in a wide range of musical styles: from Jazz to Pop, from Latin to Rock. Having studied both classical percussion and jazz/pop drums he can draw from a huge technical and above all musical vocabulary. Ron played and worked with the likes of Jim Beard, Jon Herington, Scott Kinsey, Mike Stern, John Beasley, Mike Mainieri, Randy Brecker, Eric Gale a.o. and leads his own Ron van Stratum band. Besides that he also is the drummer/percussionist for Belgian singer Nadine Nix and performes clinics and workshops for reknown drums-, cymbals- and percussion companies. He holds a chair as drumteacher at the Conservatorium Maastricht Jazz/Pop departement since 1992. Ron has 4 albums out as a leader under his own name.

Ronen Itzik

Born in Jerusalem, Israel, in 1976, Ronen was fortunate to grow up in an environment that fostered his dreams of becoming a musician. He was raised in a music-loving family; both his parents and his older brother were music enthusiasts who enjoyed a large variety of music. Music was therefore a part of every day life, and Ronen’s up-bringing gave him many opportunities to cultivate his love for the art form. At the age of six, Ronen took keyboard lessons for a year. This served as a great introduction to instrumental music and, later, helped him realize his interest in playing music professionally

Justin Chesarek

When Justin Chesarek, one of Atlanta’s go-to percussionists, was a child living in Pennsylvania, his father sat him down and educated him, via the Beatles Anthology documentary. The mesmerized ten year old was hooked. Two years later with the help of his first drum teacher Randy Roth, he was gigging with Pittsburgh jazz legend Harold Betters, taking advantage of the experience as an early version of on-the-job training. He also counts the invaluable experience of listening to Roger Humphries, well-known for his work with Horace Silver, as a significant step in his early musical education. This was just the beginning.

Craig McIver
