David Thomas Bailey was born in Seattle, Washington to a musical family. His father, a working drummer, instilled a love for music and developed his basic musical skills. When David was still young, the Bailey family moved to Southwest Denver, where they still live today. David's first instrument was the alto saxophone, but fell in love with the guitar at age 11. In High School, David played in local rock groups. In his junior year, David worked fast food jobs to pay for his jazz guitar lessons with Ray Biocco at Brentwood Music. David earned a Bachelors Degree from University of Colorado in Jazz and Commercial Guitar, his teachers included Ron Miles, Fred Hess, and Paul Musso
