Tim Boniface

TIM BONIFACE is a jazz saxophonist and pianist. He is based in Cambridge where he works as a performer, teacher and composer. He is also an ordained priest and theologian, and is Chaplain at Girton College, University of Cambridge.
Tim has collaborated with a wide array of players on the current UK scene, including recordings with Tara Minton, Polly Gibbons and Phil Merriman amongst others, and fruitful partnerships with vocalist Irene Serra, saxophonist Tony Kofi and pianist James Pearson. As host and pianist of the Sunday Sessions at The Lab in Cambridge and regular house band member at Ashtead Jazz Club and elsewhere, he has played with an accompanied numerous jazz luminaries, including Jo Harrop, Nigel Price, Scott Hamilton, Peter Horsfall, Natalie Williams, Allison Neale, Immy Churchill, Graham Harvey, Germana La Sorsa, Noemi Nutti and others. His Cambridge Jazz Festival gigs with James Pearson, bassist Jeremy Brown and drummers Sophie Alloway and Steve Brown have been sold out weeks in advance. Along with tenor player Sam Miles he holds a jazz residency at the University Arms hotel in Cambridge, often collaborating with acclaimed American guitarist Ted Morcaldi.

He started playing clarinet at the age of 9, studied with his mentor Yi Cheng, principal clarinetist of Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. Julian Nicholas
Born:
Julian learned clarinet with Nicholas Bucknall at John Roan School, Greenwich from 1976 to 1983, when he went to York University and continued with Alan Hacker. He studied saxophone with Tony Coe, Don Rendell, Bobby Wellins. Julian didn't fit into the critics and promoters templates, necessarily, stylistically gravitating towards African rhythms with Western harmonies in his compositions, as well as the influence of folk music through artists such as John Surman, but he managed to pop up as a mainstream-to-modern freelancer with some of the legendary names of jazz from a very young age, as well as with reggae bands and on garage recordings

Alejandro Gamboa

Alejandro is a drummer from Cali, Colombia. Having family roots in Buenaventura, Alejandro had the oportunity of early exposure to afrocolombian music and also had the opportunity of attending festivals such as petronio alvarez since he was 3 years old. Also experiencing his first moments on stage thanks to Hugo Candelario who was friend of Alejandro’s father and let him on stage while “Grupo Bahia” was performing. Alejandro rapidly found himself fascinated by the instruments, the energy of the band and knew that he wanted to play music. After tirelessly asking his parents for Drums, they reached out to family friend Leonor Gonzales Mina (renown Colombian singer), who kindly gave Alejandro his first musical instrument, a bombo (a traditional folkloric drum), and offered them some advice for his musical development
