Musician

Chris Fishman

Born:

Chris Fishman is a multidisciplinary pianist, composer, producer, and sound designer from Los Angeles. He has collaborated and performed with Pat Metheny, Flying Lotus, Louis Cole, and Genevieve Artadi to name a few. With frequent collaborator Louis Cole, he performs in a multi-instrumentalist trio along with drummer Nate Wood.

Chris began playing the drums and piano at the age of 4, and by the age of 7 was performing with local bands in Southern California. Encouraged by his instructors at Inglewood’s Just Lovin’ Music Studios, Chris pursued interests in drums and piano, soon discovering a love of jazz. His versatile musicianship has earned him credits in various facets of performance and production. Chris performs in a trio led by Pat Metheny where he plays left hand key bass as well as synthesizers, organ, fender rhodes and piano. Alongside Thundercat, Chris can be heard on the score to Netflix’s original anime series Yasuke (2021), with Flying Lotus as executive producer. Over the past year, Chris has also been collaborating with composers in residence with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra on a series of works based in improvisation. At Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he has served as resident artist, Chris has coached solo and chamber groups alongside guitarist Pedro Martins and other emerging artists from across the globe. Also an avid producer, Chris has been developing electronic sound libraries for Moog Music based on albums he has found particularly influential, a project that has allowed Chris to both aid future music makers and synthesize new possibilities for his own artistic voice.
