Carosones

In 1949 Renato Carosone founded is own band, almost unknown in an Italy rebuilding itself after WW2. In the next ten years he would go on to write a new page in the “Canzone Napolitana” throughout the world. In his own version of the neapolitan dialect and irony he was deeply influenced by his previous ten years in Addis Ababa. He had been directing bands of the new genres of the epoque: swing, cha cha cha, mambo and rock and roll. His recordings of the fifties were such a hit that Carosone turned into a global icon: his fusion of styles charmed all five continents...even China! Sixty years later in Barcelona, the Mediterranean capital, a multicultural group of musicians recreate the recordings that made Carosone's music a cultural heritage
