Solon McDade

Solon McDade grew up in a musical environment constantly surrounded by music and musicians. He began playing the washtub bass as soon as he was big enough to pick it up, and later moved on to the larger upright bass. He and his siblings were trained as musicians from a young age and exposed to their parents’ extensive and eclectic record collection. They were soon playing alongside their parents in the McDade Family Band, a group that toured Canada with their own brand of Canadiana folk music at festivals and theatres throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Mark Godfrey

Bassist Mark Godfrey is quickly becoming one of the new faces in Canadian jazz. Hailing from Southwestern Ontario and currently living in Toronto, he has established himself a mainstay in this national community and was named the 2019 Emerging Jazz Artist by the Toronto Arts Foundation. Composing and performing for many years with his contemporary jazz group, Pram Trio, Mark’s work as a co-leader, bassist, and composer has garnered international recognition. In 2014, this group was awarded the Grand Prix de Jazz from the Montreal Jazz Festival and has performed as a feature artist at jazz festivals across Canada including those in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, and Rimouski. Following the release of Pram Trio’s most recent album in 2016, Mark began composing for five-piece jazz ensemble and in 2017 started the Mark Godfrey Quintet
