A Night at the Jazz Circus! - Companion Mixtape

Read "A Night at the Jazz Circus! - Companion Mixtape" reviewed by Ludovico Granvassu

From Charles Gayle's alter ego, Streets the Clown, to the music performed by the Kamikaze Ground Crew for the Flying Karamazov Brothers, from the countless jazz renditions of the iconi themes that Nino Rota wrote for Federico Fellini's movies to the equally countless jazz tunes inspired by circus acts... Jazz and Circus have a long history ...

Someday We'll All Be Free

Featuring the music of Brussels Jazz Orchestra
Duration: 5:08

Brussels Jazz Orchestra invited everyone to play or sing the song ’Someday We’ll All Be Free’ along with them. In these unusual times of staying home and playing tunes from our living room, BJO wants to encourage people to stay socially connected through the power of music.

Hold your physical distance, but keep the social connection alive.

Hopefully, we’ll soon be free!

Brussels Jazz Orchestra

It might be unexpected but the Brussels Jazz orchestra (BJO) is not the kind of jazz orchestra that stick to standards. We prefer to achieve the highest level by composing original music, creating unique arrangements and playing inventively as well as passionately. In fact, it really is jazz with a dynamic orchestral sound, with a classic strength in which each musician is also a brilliant soloist. Call it an ‘orchestrated passion for jazz’ that incites BJO to create world-class music. Who comes to play with BJO depends on the project. In addition to BJO’s own productions, we work with well known musicians from all over the world

For those few die-hards who may adamantly insist that superior big-band jazz never reaches beyond America's borders, here is irrefutable proof that the reverse is true: the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, world-class in every respect, performing (in concert) admirable compositions by the marvelous Italian pianist Enrico Pieranunzi with arrangements by the no less marvelous trumpeter Bert Joris ...

Brussels Jazz Orchestra: Wild Beauty

Read "Wild Beauty" reviewed by Maurizio Zerbo

Jeff Levenson has been at the helm of Half Note Records since 2002, just a few years after it got off the ground.
