Rocco Prestia

As the legendary bassist for the Tower of Power Rocco Prestia, has defined his own style and become synonymous with the much-imitated ‘Finger Style Funk' that he pioneered. A true innovator of his instrument, he is considered one of the premier bassists in music today. Francis Rocco Prestia was born on March 7, 1951, in Sonora, California. Initially taking some guitar lessons Rocco stuck with the instrument long enough to audition for classmate Emilio Castillo's band at age 14. Under the tutelage of jazz guitarist Terry Saunders, he switched to bass. Saunders began teaching the band members how to play their parts for cover versions of tunes by the likes of the Beatles, the Animals, and Paul Revere & the Raiders

Like most teenagers he wanted to branch out and try new styles of music, so he joined up with a R&B group from Columbus, Ohio called “Crowd Pleasers” who had an R&B hit on the westbound record label “Freaky People”. This group also spawned another musician by the name of “Kenny (BabyFace) Edmonds” who at the time was the guitar player for the R&B group. As his career continued Orrick joined up with long time friend and powerhouse blues guitarist “Larry McCray” (pointblank/virgin records) and played many venues like the House of Blues, B.B kings (in Memphis & New York), and many blues and jazz festivals. While playing with Larry in Nashville, Tennessee, a representative from Gibson Musical Instruments quickly offered him his first endorsement deal through “Steinberger Basses”

Ahmed Nazmi

Ahmed Nazmi is considered to be one of the most inspiring bass players in Egypt. Since a young age Nazmi has been very interested in playing Egyptian traditional music, using varying instruments, as well as exploring global music. Between the ages of 6-15 he played the Egyptian Oud (lute), classical guitar, and drums. At age 15 he discovered his passion for playing the bass; this passion lead him from his hometown Mitt Ghamr to Cairo where the diverse music scene allowed his musicianship to quickly mature and develop. As he continues to develop his musicianship and professional signature he delicately balances traditional Egyptian music, fusion jazz, and, more recently, the music of Africa into his playing and distinctive style

Michael Berkowitz
Mike Berkowitz is a music teacher of guitar and electric bass in the Fresno area and has been teaching since his graduation from Berklee College of Music in 1980. He grew up in Poughkeepsie New York. Mike majored in performance and the electric bass is his main instrument although, in the last 10 years or so, he has been playing guitar in a variety of styles and bands, the jazz venue being a welcome challenge. Mike moved to Fresno in 1984 to join the Christian band, Omega Sunrise where he recorded and toured with them for 2 years. He and his wife, Anne settled in Fresno after he got off the road and the band decided to go off into the sunset
