Jonathan Maron

Jonathan Maron is a Grammy-nominated electric bassist, composer and producer. Maron's unique approach, propulsive basslines and big sound travel with him always, regardless of the musical setting. Early in his career, Jonathan co-founded New York's now legendary Groove Collective, a band that has toured internationally, released eight albums including their Grammy-nominated, "People People Music Music." The band's dance-floor blend of afro-cuban rhythms, jazz, funk and house music has provided a perfect showcase for Maron's playing and writing. With other artists, Jonathan can be heard on almost 200 records ranging widely in style, including Maxwell's platinum selling “Ascenscion (Don't Ever Wonder)." Maron has also performed with Meshell Ndegeocello, Tupac Shakur, Shujaat Khan, Jewel, India.Arie, Thalia, Anoushka Shankar, and Kurt Rosenwinkel, among many others. Jonathan’s been featured numerous times in Bass Player Magazine, and these interviews and transcriptions are included in the book, " Brave New Bass: Interviews & Lessons with the Innovators, Trendsetters & Visionaries."

Jukka Haavisto is a new generation bassvirtuoso from Finland. He is a studio- and live musician who currently plays and performs with his newly established focusing on the upcoming release of his debut album and with many different directors, artists, and line-ups such as Jukka Haavisto, Bossapoika, Beat, Bass & Bone, Heiskanen Bayatz Baharat, VENHA sekä Helsinki Headnod Convention.
Haavisto studied at University of Stavanger, Institute of Music and Dance, and graduated as Master of Music Performance & jazz improvisation in 2016. Nowadays he is known for his fretless bass, jazz fusion, and world music fusion compositions, and skillful improvisations.

Thundercat

Thundercat is the alter ego of virtuosic bassist / singer Stephen Bruner. The South Los Angeles-native has released two critically acclaimed full length albums on Brainfeeder Records since 2011, and last year saw the release of widely praised mini-album The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam. The album features appearances from the legendary Herbie Hancock, fellow Brainfeeder family members Kamasi Washington, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and Mono/Poly and production work from Brainfeeder head, Flying Lotus. 2015 also saw Thundercat make outstanding contributions to landmark albums by Kamasi Washington (The Epic) and Kendrick Lamar (To Pimp A Butterfly)

Born in Oslo, Norway, 15th July, 1986. Grew up in a village outside Trondheim, Norway called Børsa. Started playing bass at age 14, studied with bass players Andreas Bergsland (the first two years) and Mattis Kleppen (the next seven). Attended the jazz department of Sund Folk College 2005-06. Attained a bachelors degree in performing jazz at the jazz department of NTNU Music Institute in Trondheim in 2010.
