Matthew Parrish

Born:

Matthew Parrish, has ‘come into his own’ as a sought after performer, arranger, composer, producer and instructor. Matthew brings skills and s wing as he puts his heart into every note he plays. He has a genuine warmth and loyalty to the music that transcends into every note, every tune, and every interaction with his fellow musicians.

Born in central California to hard-working, music-loving parents of four children, Matthew is the youngest to his next sibling by eleven years. With a variety of jazz, rock, and classical music being played around him since birth, whether live or recorded, and a father who played acoustic bass early in his military career, Matt was destined for a life dedicated to music. Although he started on trumpet in middle school, he switched from that instrument for the acoustic bass in a last minute decision of the heart right before his Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts music program audition. He was accepted as an acoustic bass student in jazz studies and he has never stopped learning his craft.

Matt Erion

Born:

After years of playing in various groups in the Chicago area, I finally found the perfect combination of musicians. The Matt Erion trio has been together since 1999. The other members are Jim Abrahamson on Piano and Dave Anderson on Drums. Our first release is the culmination of five years of performing togehter. At the beginning of 2003 we decided to perform our own material exclusively. All three of us contribute compositions and our style is best described as mainstream with some contemporary sounds sprinkled in. We continue to perform at our favorite clubs in the Chicago area, and hope to branch out to other markets and venues in the coming year.

Jim Ferguson

I was born James Warner Ferguson in Jefferson City, Missouri on December 10, 1950, the third child of James Austin and Fern Webb Ferguson. My father had been a high-school music teacher for much of the previous two decades, but by the time I was born, he had gone into church music. Before my second birthday, my family moved to South Carolina, where Dad took a music position in a large metropolitan church. I began singing in the childrens' choir when I was four years old. (Since Dad was in charge of the music program, I didn't miss many rehearsals.) When I got a little older, my parents started me on piano lessons with the church organist, but even though I continued the piano lessons into my teens, I was always more interested in singing. In my junior year of high school, I began studying voice with a teacher at the University of South Carolina
