Skinny Hightower

Born: November 12, 1985

A music producer with a solid background as a multi-instrumentalist jazz musician, Skinny Hightower emerged in 2017 with his self-released label debut Emotions which boasts a number one Billboard single in Taboo. He holds three total top 10 jazz Billboard singles to his name with One Way Street and Sample That following respectively from his follow-up release Retrospect in 2018. As an artist, he has performed at various events and jazz festivals to include the Seabreeze Jazz Festival and Catalina Island Jazztrax Festival. His full-range production style has earned him a reputation as a formidable artist in jazz, but his plans have shifted from that of an artist to a well-rounded and established record producer, evident in his involvement in many parallel projects for other artists.

Louis Romanos

Born: April 11, 1971

Louis Romanos studied percussion under Idris Muhammad, Johnny Vidacovich and Art Perretta.  At nineteen he moved from Connecticut to go to the birthplace of Jazz, New Orleans, to study music and philosophy.  Louis has since performed and recorded with a number of renowned musicians including Tommy James (Director of the  Duke Ellington Orchestra), Gene Bertoncini, Steve Masakowski, Chuck Leavell, Keith Richards, John Mayer, Charles and Cyril Neville, Al Hirt, Dave Easley of Brian Blade’s Fellowship Band, Charlie Miller of Dr. John’s band, Jazz Legend Earl Turbinton, Tricia Boutte, Marva Wright and  Dave Anderson of the Louisiana Philharmonic and many, many more. As a Composer, Louis writes for live bands, dance, TV, video games, indie movies and commercials.   His band, Permagrin, released three albums co written with Dan Sumner.  Permagrin performed in SXSW music conference, the NOW music festival, the New Orleans Jazz Fest, the Indy Jazz Fest, the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco, and were nominated for best electronica band in New Orleans in 2005 Big Easy Awards.  Permagrin licensed Classical to the documentary movie, Plane Spotting.   Louis’s commissioned works include 5 works for the Confederacy of Dances performance in New Orleans at the Contemporary Arts Center, Take Me There, for the University of Monroe guitar ensemble and a piece for Mirari Brass Quintet.   Louis wrote Light Waves for visual artist and Chicago producer, Nancy Bechtol, and together they have a work on Culture T.V.  Louis also composed about a dozen pieces for C-E-N-T-E-R, a collaborative project between visual artists and composers, in Los Angeles, California.   Additionally, his composition, Tyco at the Gates was licensed to the major motion picture, Cool It. Recent credits include a dystopian futuristic score for the short movie, Odessa,  an action score for Fira’s Game, and an uplifting score for feature documentary, Pink and Blue: the colors of hereditary cancer.  Louis has also scored live theater (The Bakkhai), video games (The Dark Ages of Titan, Corpse Wagon), the modern ballet (Interior Borders by choreographer, Joan Buttram, at University of Georgia) and recording drums on the new theme song for the Squidbillies on Cartoon network. Rod Harris Jr

Born: April 13, 1979

Rod Harris Jr. is a native of Jacksonville, Florida. Rod was exposed to music at a young age by his singer/songwriter father. When Rod was 14, his father decided to relocate the family to Atlanta, GA. On his 17th birthday, his father gave him $150 dollars, and he decided to take the money and purchase an acoustic guitar. "...I don't know what provoked me to get a guitar...It had to be God...because I could've partied that money away...quickly.." he says. Born: June 9, 1990

South African born trumpeter Darren English, is the two-time recipient of the Fine Music Radio (FMR) Award and the 2012 recipient of the SAMRO Overseas Award. Anthony G. Bailey

Born: December, 1974

With over 25 yrs. experience playing Trumpet & Flugelhorn, Anthony G. Bailey has performed in Atlanta & all over the Southeastern United States. He joined the African American Philharmonic Orchesta (AAPO) under the direction of John T. Peek in 1997. After three years with the AAPO, he became the lead trumpeter for the orchestra. Working with this group gave him the opportunity to perform with world renowned artists such as The Temptations & The Dells. Dave Potter

Dave Potter is quickly becoming known as a formidable musician. He has performed with many well-known jazz artists and recorded 4 albums with Jason Marsalis. Following his graduation from Florida State University in 2005, he was chosen from a national pool of applicants to be a member of the Louis Armstrong Quintet at the University of New Orleans. Unfortunately, the tragedy of hurricane Katrina temporarily ended his hopes for a career in Louisiana. In the spring of 2006, Dave was awarded a full scholarship to the prestigious Julliard Jazz Program in New York City. However, after several days of intense meditation he declined the offer and returned to Florida State University, where he received his Master’s Degree in the winter of 2008 after further collaboration with his mentor Marcus Roberts

Dan Coy

Born: December 3, 1953

Dan Coy began actively playing in Atlanta in the mid 1970's with bands like Blessed Relief, Windows, Unit Structure and Polydor recording artists, Early Warning System. In the 1980's the Dan Coy Band was formed and began performing regularly at the Cafe 290, Claude's, Club 131, The Point, RCI Cafe and Fat Tuesdays. Creative Loafing readers voted the Dan Coy Band best Jazz band in Atlanta several years in a row. Meanwhile Dan concurrently performed and recorded with other local bands such as Kodac Harrison, Stephanie Pettis, Berné Poliakoff, Stephen Charles, Fonda Fiengold and Vertex T
