Avishai Darash

Avishai Darash, an Amsterdam-based pianist, composer, arranger, record producer, and musical director, has seamlessly blended musical styles, drawing inspiration from North African traditional music, Western classical music, American jazz, and Israeli folk.

His musical journey began with the mentorship of his cousin, Tribal Tul, a psychedelic trance producer. At the age of 11, Avishai spent a weekend in Tul's studio learning about the production and creative process of electronic music. He delved into producing psychedelic trance until the age of 16, gaining insights into structure, influences, and arrangements that later influenced his musical direction.

As child, all that Christian knew was Music. A Profusion of music. Christian sang before he could talk, when he was 3 years of age. Then he entered his first competition ever. Consequentially came the music school for 7 years followed by the Boys Choir for 10 years. Christian spent a great number of years in music school with as series of strict piano teachers. He always found the will and fortitude to keep going. The love of music within him has been always the dominant power in his life. He realised this quite early (that music was his calling) and this has materialised itself by attending the Tallinn Georg Ots Music High School (Estonia), where he specialised in choral conducting

It turned out to be a good decision. People like Charlie Parker and Sonny Rollins inspired him through the records of his father and made him want to play jazz music. For four years, starting from the age of 14, he took part in the young talent program from the Conservatory of Amsterdam, called the Junior Jazz College. After the Junior Jazz College he was admitted to the bachelor jazz saxophone in Amsterdam

Philipp received the composition assignment for the North Sea Jazz Festival 2018 The jury, consisting of Gijsbert Kamer (music journalist de Volkskrant), Cyriel Pluimakers (jazz programmer and a delegate for the VIP), and Kim Bloem (programmer North Sea Jazz), was unanimous in selecting Rüttgers for the Composition Assignment for this year. “We are impressed by the large wealth of ideas and composing style of Rüttgers, which is colorful, dynamically varied and also has an interesting rhythm.” For the Composition Assignment Rüttgers will take the listener to revisit fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen, giving them voice in a composition entitled Twists Of H.C

Named after a tough Australian species of grass, Spinifex may at first sound like a combination of jazzcore, math-metal and other typically Western contemporary music. However, beneath the surface the listener will discover ancient cyclical rhythms of Turkish and Indian origin.

Nihad Hrustanbegovic is the Bosnian/Dutch composer, concert accordion artist and pianist. During the music education in Bosnia and Herzegovina Nihad Hrustanbegovic won the first price at the Bosnian and ex YU music competition in 1991 as the soloist and the first price with the chamber orchestra in 1990. In September of 1995 Nihad Hrustanbegovic continued music education in Kingdom of Netherlands at ArtEZ in Arnhem where he received the degree Bachelor in 2000 and in 2002 degree Master of Music with Cum Laude.
