All About Jazz at the 2019 Montréal Audio Fest: Part 2-7. Featuring Tetra Speakers & Emm Labs.

Duration: 10:07

The second installment of All About Jazz's coverage of the 32nd annual Montréal Audio Fest, a spectacular event spotlighting over 300 manufacturers and distributors of high-end audio/video systems ranging from $1,000 to $1,000,000. Follow host John Kelman as he interviews representatives from several Canadian manufacturers and engages in some listening sessions with their equipment.

Episode 2: John interviews Ottawa-based Adrian Butts and Calgary resident Amadeus Meitner, President and Operations Manager, respectively, of Tetra Speakers and Emm Labs. Tetra began designing "Listening Instruments" that make it possible to "hear it the way musicians intended" in 1994, and commenced manufacture and sales of their high end products four years later, with some of its more illustrious listeners including Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Keith Richards, David Torn, Peter Erskine and Rob Fraboni.

Emm Labs' owner and chief designer is the renowned Ed Meitner, who has literally spent a lifetime in the audio industry. He was a part of the development team for the Direct Stream Digital (DSD) technology at the core of high resolution SACDs that continue to be released to this day. Partnered with his son Amadeus, Emm Labs has continued to expand its product line to including a range of CD/SACD players, amplification, digital-to-analogue conversion and more, with products utilized by prestigious names including Abbey Road Studios, Bernie Grundman Mastering, Bob Ludwig, Mobile Fidelity and Chesky Records, and artists like Chick Corea, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Diana Krall and Andrea Bocelli.

Together, Tetra and Emm Labs have partnered to create a true dream system worth $385,000. Based on sampling it at the festival, it's worth every penny.
