È da tempo che il chitarrista pugliese Antonio Tosques frequenta gli studi di registrazione collaborando a progetti altrui e solo ora trova, finalmente, la via per l'esordio come leader insieme ad una ritmica di conterranei ed al sax tenore italo-canadese Robert Bonisolo. Synopsis percorre con arguzia le vie di una fusion (più quella di un Mike Stern che di un Frank Gambale per citare due suoi noti colleghi spesso in Italia) in cui oltre agli assoli ben costruiti di Tosques risaltano le sue ottime composizioni.

Robert Bonisolo si conforma il bravo sassofonista che abbiamo imparato ad ammirare per la pulizia ed inventiva dei fraseggi. Qui sta al gioco, rispettando la leadership del chitarrista e contribuendo, insieme agli altri, al sound aggressivo del gruppo, al forte impatto di gruppo sull'ascoltatore. Più che sull'ornamentale, sul calligrafico, qui si va alla sostanza, con esiti formali inappuntabili. È un lavoro che lascia il segno e che, come scrive Paolo Fresu nelle liner notes, conferma lo stato di grazia del jazz italiano, anche in un genere difficile quale è la fusion, in cui raramente si riesce ad ascoltare qualcosa da confrontare con i modelli di oltre oceano.
